I visited Nagoa beach in 1989. There was small village of travellers just around far end of the beach. You could just show up and choose an empty concrete hut with a thatched roof. Then go into the nearby village and find the owner and negotiate a price. It was absolute magic! I was there for three weeks and one of the happiest times of my life. There were Germans, Americans, French, Brit, Aussie and New Zealanders. I am Canadian. We would do our own things durring the day and then get together for communal campfires in the evening. During the week - the beach was more or less empty and all ours. During the weekend. It was like the video above - packed with locals. As I remember it - Gujarat was a dry state - but you could purchase alcohol on Dui Island in general and Nagoa beach in particular. It was a two day party for the locals! I can't stress how awesome that period in my life was. The people travellers I met on that beach will always make me smile. Stephan from Germany. Richard from New Zealand.
