This episode always makes me really emotional. The scenes with the Asgard, combined with the Asgard theme, are just so powerful. And O'Neill showing he can be really humble and serious, it shows a lot more depth than he usually lets us see. Great episode, and I'm glad you loved it too!

Love your Stargate reactions man, I feel like you spent half the video smiling, reminds me of the first time I watched this episode.... And shout out for the Dogma reference LOVE that movie Lorebomb Episode new 8 chevron Address/s, the Dialing Computer is now full of every Stargate address pulled directly from the Ancient database, more options of planets to explore that the Goa'uld have no clue of, Earth has the full schematic of a DHD to copy/study, learned how to build a little boost battery, + meeting with The Fuckin Asgard. Fun Fact: Christopher Judge really did hit Richard Dean Anderson in that boxing scene.

Our most common numerical system is Base Ten math 0-9; Base Eight math is a numerical system of 0-7, it's used quite a bit with computers.

Easily one of my favorite episodes and just have to say how insanely important this episode is going forward, definitely a quintessential episode, if there ever was one for a show. This and the next episode A Matter of Time are so good, the writing team for this series is absolutely next level.

15:45 No that's not what the great filter is. The concept of the great filter comes from Drake's equation which predicts how many interstellar civilisaitons we should have recieved radiowaves from, considering how many stars there are in range* how many of them have planets, how many of those planets develop life and so on. Drake's equation as Drake first put it down suggests we should have discovered several but we have discovered none, as such there must be a factor that Drake estimated wrong in the equation. Thta's the great filter, the variable or variables that is keeping us from seeing other advanced civilisaitons. Is life rarer than we think? Advanced life? Or is it that once a civilisaiton develops radio signals they don't so so for very long. The last is how the term Great Filter is most used, as a big threat that comes around and wipes out advanced civilisaitons once they start broastcasting rado into space, though as far as drakes equation is concerned may just as well be that they develop some better means of communicaiton. *Range would be the time we've been listening compared to the speed of light.

6:45 Well our system is deicimal that is base ten maths, we count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 ... 99 100, base 8 math would work like this 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 20... 77 100. We count to a number in our case ten, in base 8 maths 8, and then we add a number in the next stack and start counting in the lowest ordered stack again. We count base ten maths because we have got ten fingers. It's however not very useful for complicated maths, base 8 maths is way better for complicated maths. Why takes even more time to explain so I will drop it here unless someone asks.
