Here is a fuckin hilarious story linked to the Rockabilly/Psychbilly theme. I remember watching the Caravans in Oct 87 at a pub in Totton Southampton then known as Henry's (formerly the Red Lion). There were a group of us rockabilly/Psychbillies out celebrating my mates 21st birthday, My mate needless to say got totally bolloxed and he was trying to dance but his co-ordination had gone and he was all over the place. The dance floor was raised 8-10 inches above the rest of the floor, well my mate lost his balance and flew backwards off of the dance floor and he landed arse first in the middle of a wicker framed glass topped table. The table shattered and he was stuck in the frame of the table with his legs coming out one side and his top half hanging out the other! The geezers sat at the table were needless to say 'Not impressed' and were going to try and punch my mates lights out as their beers had gone for a burton! They were covered in broken glass and splattered in the contents of their beer glasses! ( I am pissing myself typing this 27 years later) The Caravans stopped mid song wetting themselves having seen 1st hand what had happened. We eventually got my mate up out of the table frame and he had glass stuck in his arse cheeks but not bad enough for him to go to hospital. The geezers who had been sat at the table calmed down and saw the funny side eventually. It was one of the occasions when your ribs ache so much that you are in agony from laughing so much. It was fuckin hillarious! Someone from the Caravans must surely remember this? I ended up telling this story at his wedding in 95 when i was his best man. He is a top bloke but he as clumsy as fuck!!! Just to add a few years before this we were at a rockabilly gig at Southampton Guildhall and the same mate got his foot tangled up in a rope from the curtains which were used to cordon off the back of the hall. Anyway he got his foot tangled in the rope but before he had realised this he tried to walk away from his table but ended up flat on his face much to the enjoyment of those of us with him and the bouncers on the door!

Zorchkat Hi ZorchKat. I am from Totton and I used to hang around with a bunch of Psychos/Rockabillies in Totton & Southampton. I knew some lads from the Swaythling/Bassett area who were into the scene and a few lads from Woolston. Not sure whether i'd know your Dad or not. Not that in touch with the scene at the moment if I am honest. What is your band name?

Great video fun stories, especially the one where the guys crashed into the house. Here in Canada we have our own Rockabilly Surf Punk legend, Teenage Head. Check out their tunes "Disgusteen" or "Let's Shake".

Just curious as from your home country of Canada as far as Psychobilly-wise, I've only ever heard of The Creepshow. So Teenage Head, huh? I shall look um their singles then. A big thanks! Love me some Neo Rockabilly, Psychobilly especially and Thrashabilly as well as the Surf Rock or revival. All great sounds. ;-)
