Oh my gosh. Me too! I have had the WORST luck with nail technicians, I even had one use that illegal MMR acrylic on my nails. I was furious when I found out. But one gal I was friends with and had gone to her for years, 90% of the time I hated my nails but didn’t want to hurt her feelings. 25 years in the business and she still made a TON of mistakes. Lockdown forced me to do my own nails and I’ve never been happier. Even with my beginner mistakes. Lol. I get what I want. And I have fun doing them. My only drawback is that it takes me longer to do my nails than a professional would.

Hi, may I ask a question, I normally got the nail bars but with the virus etc, I’m thinking of trying myself, would you recommend polygels or fibreglass or acrylics, stick on false, gel nails with extensions, shellac, does it help. Nails grow, eg , what is easier and not as expensive, many thanks and hope you don’t mind me asking,
@maryduff88313 жыл бұрын
@@alimbye795 I’m an old school educated tech and was introduced to polygel 2 years ago and I think polygel would be a great starting point for you. My daughter recently got MAKART and she loves it because she always has lifting issues because of her job and having her hands in water. She’s had her first set for 2 weeks now and they are still solid. So you will want to invest in a full kit with the primer, dehydrator, base coat, brush and slip saluting to go with your gel and get a box of dual forms also called popits till you get use to product application before you go free hand. Watch Anastasia’s videos about this type of application to solid info. She’s in the top 3 on KZbin when it comes to knowledge and skill.

I just did my first set ever and ended up with bubble nails too. I used acrylic and had a hard time getting the perfect bead. Luckily I have the Makartt e-file and was able to fix them. My biggest issue, as a self-taught artist was my side walls getting flooded with the builder gel and I still sometimes have issues with it. The skin around my fingers is very puffy from being a nail bitter in the past, so it's always a bit of a struggle. Then I for sure would make the mistake of the tips being WAAAY too thick. Not as thick as those bubble nails lol but, for sure thicker than a credit card, I hated and still hate the flex of my natural nails and figured that if I thickened up the product from the apex all the way down that it would still look good lol..yeaaah not so much. I have learned how to have the product thick enough to keep my nails from flexing so much that it's uncomfortable, but also still keep my nails looking slim. It's a fine line to walk and has for sure taken LOTS of practice, trial and errors lol.
