Woah, no. That trick actually seems to have some danger. Just crouching inches away from where real spikes & the heavy ceiling fall down? Uh uh.

yea its actually pretty gnarly when you think about it

What was this, the very 1st bit on the 1st episode, what with that intro about explaining the mask and his moniker??

Correct, big boy.

The first trick on the first episode aired in November 1997; it was turning a lady into a tiger.

They did this at the beginning of each episode back in the day. There were four specials originally (I don't remember if they were weekly or spaced out), so a brief refresher was needed for people tuning in for the first time.

By the way, why was it important for his identity to not be revealed?

@@valinorean4816 They pretend like it's to protect him from being blacklisted by the magical community at large for breaking the "Magician's Code" (i.e. never reveal the secrets behind your work or the work of another magician). It is an ethical code held to a high standard by magicians everywhere. Breaking it is considered possibly THE most taboo thing a magician can do. In truth, though, he unmasks himself at the end of the original running. He does so because it was never about his identity. He wanted to create controversy about a secret magician revealing magic's most famous tricks, to get magicians talking. That would only assist in his ultimate goal. That's the real reason he went through so much trouble He reveals these tricks in order to train his audience how to see through traditional illusions. His goal in doing so was to attempt to usher in innovation in a world where magicians were starting to grow complacent around the time the Internet was getting big~

A better illusion would be having the magician flattened by the spike holder and certain spikes retract when they hit the magician. Open curtain for a peek, then close it. Then lift the spikes and magician gets up!

They actually take your capacity to think and you believe whatever they show. Your general intelligence just don't work during magic show

Thanks for telling me not to try this at home. Now what am I supposed to do with my bed of spikes in the master bedroom? Anyway, I've had enough with these Velcro straps. Use hardened steel to pin down the masked magician. Doing so would have improved the shows ratings.
