How to Make a Tip and Overlay Look Like a Sculpted Nail

Hi everybody
We’re at NABDA in Scotland and today we’re making a tip and overlay look like a sculpt.
We have 2 different tips and one of our tips has a stronger c-curve.
When applying the tip, make sure the sidewall is nice and straight. After gluing the tip on, I’m going to pinch the tip in to keep it flush to the natural nail. I’m then cutting the tip to length and then file the nail into shape before blending the tip to the natural nail by filing the contact point very thin.
Dehydrate and prime the nail in preparation for the acrylic. And surprise, surprise, I’m using Natural Beige. I’ll start with my first bead at the tip and then apply a second bead at the cuticle and blend together.
Test pinch the nail with your fingers until it’s not sticky. Pop the tool on quickly and then check its not squished, if it hasn’t, pinch the nail fully. I”m then going to file the nail.
To make the tip look like a sculpt, I’m going to take my e-file and at a 45 degree angle, thin the end of the tip from underneath. Finish by buffing the nail, wiping over with Gel Residue Wipe Off Solution and Top Coat.

After learning how to do my own nails this past year and using your entire routine for prep, form fitting, application, and filing, I'm proud to say I love sculpting and have gotten very good at pinching, shaping, filing, etc. I haven't used tips in 8 months. :) Also I only use my efile around my cuticles for finish filing just because my hands get stiff (old injury). Thank you so much for all your help and inspiration! You are the absolute best imo. Thats why I love you bcuz you do sculpt a nail like I love to do..my clients do come back for a fill after 3 to 5 weeks to a month an half..if there is broken nails,its bcuz they accidentally banged their nails..I.hate glueing and sizing the nails tips and cut and blend them..not people has perfect nail beds and its so hard to glued those tips on a flat and wide nail beds..I agree with you..sculpting is faster..and you can costumize whatever nail type you want to achieve..

Yes, I sculpt nails all the time, can't remember last time I actually used a tip. It's much faster. I think alot of ppl just either don't know how to do a sculpted nail or don't like doing it. My new clients ask why I do it this way and they tell me they have never seen it done the way I do it (sculpted) I love sculpting them, I think it's easier also. TFS I love your videos 😍

If any Americans can go to this class you should especially if you don’t live in a big city. You’d make so much money here with these skills. No one does sculpting, really no one can do or will do anything unique. You can get basic tips with acrylic and pick a color that’s it. The people at the salon hate anyone who wants anything different and it’s crazy expensive and we won’t even get into the how unsanitary even nice salons are
