One of the best songs music has made. Timeless, a classic whether it’s the original or any of the countless covers, and this one is special.

@@William2512 This song was released in 1983 on the Speaking in Tongues album. I was 13 and I bought the record from our the small local record store because it was on clear vinyl. At that age I was already seeking out "weird" music and this album looked weird. I listened to this song so much in my bedroom that my mom had to eventually demand I stop. 😆

What I love about this song: all of it. The Talking heads as the origin to start with - this totally carries it. And the pure jam - just for about 2 mins - crushes it

This popped up on my Spotify. Absolutely captivated by it, listened to it maybe 20 times in 2 days. The way you did this song I really feel brings out a feeling of.. lack of cynicism I guess? The whole world feels so cold and calculating and media is so corporate feeling to me now. The performance and the crowd really bring me back mentally to a place that feels genuine and it feels good in my heart. Good job on this man, really something special in my opinion.

The playing is excellent, but there are better singers of this song (Sean Hayes, Nicholas Petricca (Walk the Moon, Jack Victor (Midnight Snack)).
@richardlefaive19445 жыл бұрын
@@sophocles1198 have to disagree with that. DB himself always said the best singers, the ones that really move you, are not the most pitch perfect or technical spot on. Brock hits this one out of the park.
@tollyt74654 жыл бұрын
@@richardlefaive1944 Sean Hayes is the best cover I've heard.. He nailed the whole mood and meaning of DBs lyrics.. This is very good though..
@richardlefaive19444 жыл бұрын
@@tollyt7465 i'm.aware of hayes' cover which is.one of the better ones out there for me too. This is my favorite song of all time. So cruising for new, unique covers of it is a hobby. There are 100's on KZbin alone and ... they span the largest gamut of musical interpretive genres imaginable. Lots of great songs have lots of covers of them. But ... there is something about this particular tune that is more malleable than any other song ever written in modern times. It has an "alchemy" about it that allows good artists to morph it into almost anything they wish, yet still leave it recognizable as Naive Melody. I've heard it rendered as a.country song, blue grass, 50's jazz dance band tune... you name it. And it usually comes sounding at least decent and something you can listen to. Music is very personal, so everyone will have a different opinion and take but of all those 100s of different renditions I've listened to ... many of which are great ... for me this is the one that floats my boat the most.

this song always relaxes me when i'm on too much acid or shrooms. you gotta see these guys live, its an awesome show with all the lighting, and not to mention they sound even better in person. My mom loved to listen to P Groove before cancer took her away from us, and she was all about those great guitar solos, so it kinda reminds me of her when i listen to it. Love me some P Groove
