Cheers mate, as you see this is a belter. I remember trying to learn this one when I first started out but it was way too tricky. Still trying to engrain theory into my brain though - any tips to solidify it?

Great work Owen! Sounds like you've really been putting in the hours for this one, it is pretty tricky trying to remember it so no shame there haha, honestly there's no short cut for relentless repetition, after you've practiced it 100 times the shapes(and understanding of them) will be second nature, focus on where the root note of each chord is, that'll help you determine whether you're playing an inversion or not!

Yeah the chords are a little bit all over the place in this one haha, I can't tell you how many times I attempted to teach it before I produced a version I liked haha! Take some time and see how you get on, after some time you might find the shapes really comfy, definitely focus on that C shape of the E major!

I spent more or less an entire week trying to teach the main progression before I taught a version of it I liked it was agony haha! I would love to do all of those mate, The Smiths is another band I'm surprised I haven't done yet, I always used to gig Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now and This Charming Man, anyway I'd be really up for that, but creative control is in the hands of my patrons now so it's whatever they want!

I’m new to guitar , around 4:46 when you play the 1st inversion of the f#, when you remove the 6th fret of the G are you muting the string and just playing two notes, or are you letting the b string ring ? Thanks

Hey Theo!! So for this one I'm just using a DOD Through The Looking Glass overdrive (its a nice low - mid overdrive) and then boosted with a Xotic Super Sweet! Besides that I've just got a little reverb from the amp.

@@joaolima790 dw man, they’re like separate little boxes that you plug in between the guitar and amp. That have either a pedal or button on it that you can press with your foot to turn on and off they create different effects. Like it can be fuzz, a whammy, a phaser, there are endless ones

How do you play the f#m first inversion you never tell us what notes and i can't work it out

Hey my man Jack let me help you! Soo the very first time I do that F#1st inversion in the intro its: E string ring finger 6th fret, (mute the A) D string index finger 4th fret, and G string pinky finger 6th fret (which pulls off back to the 4th fret G string, which is played with the index finger barring the D and G together). The other shape I do every time after that is the awkward shape, which is: E string 6th fret middle finger, mute the A, D string 4th fret index finger, G string 6th fret ring finger, B string 7th fret pinky finger. Is that working for you? :D
