GM Hikaru Nakamura is known to get a bit itchy when his blitz chess rating falls below 3000. He's back and hungry to get back over the hump. Can he do so in this series against GM Dragan Solak?

Actually it's so cool to watch one of the best and most experienced chess player like Hikaru still being normal human that sometimes makes inaccuracies and that rely on his great intuition time to time! Thank you, Hikaru for your creativity and entertaining games with nice commentary you provide!

I can watch the video, maybe skip around a bit, keep the viewer on his toes, see what he wants to do. maybe try and watch it all at once, maybe not. yeah, why not. just go for it.

40:55 Doesn't Naka miss the tactic Bxd4 ? If Black takes with his rook on d8, white takes with his rook on a4, and Black can't take back with the pawn because it would hang his rook.
@Ali-it4eh
@Ali-it4eh 6 жыл бұрын
Daniel Philip if he plays Bxd4, then Rxd4 Rxd4 cxd4+ Kxd4 (because of the check move) and Rxc1 black wins a full rook. So that's why Naka didn't play Bxd4

Game 3, what about just rook f8, hoping he'll take the bishop, b/c the queen can't prevent the dark squared attack on the king.

1....Bxd4 then comes 2.exd5 cxd5 3. Bb5+ picking up the bishop on d4, and if 2... Bxc3(to exchange that bishop first) then goes 3.dxe6 with lots of threat. For exaple you take with the bishop 3... Bxe6 4.bxc3 and Solak has a HUGE attack. Naka btw mentions it quickly( and yes. he calculated it all out that fast...)

what does it mean when Hikaru says a move looks natural?
@talhaozdemir96
@talhaozdemir96 6 жыл бұрын
can't say something specific about it. a move which compatible with the way of the game, i can say. he doesn't look out for tactics or something extraordinary. he just makes his "natural" move. for example 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 is a natural move because it threatens the pawn on e5.
@theyneverlearn3679
@theyneverlearn3679 6 жыл бұрын
I'd say a natural move is one that people would play on intuition. It depends for each player imo.
@musical_lolu4811
@musical_lolu4811 5 жыл бұрын
When a move looks natural, it most often means a piece has been placed at its optimum square in relation to other friendly as well as enemy pieces, and squares. In other words, it's not antipositional.

it is so disgraceful to make a win on the flag when it is dead draw! let me tell you one thing, every "victory" is not a victory, you haven't won there anything, he earned with draw the respect to take it as a fact, even if he has 2 sec.

I’m old, and as a young boy I was in Hercegovina Novi in 1970 and watched Fischer literally decimate the best players in the world at blitz. Just one loss and a few draws all the rest were the sweetest of victories. I think the idea from the russians was to “soften him up” and blunt his then huge confidence with some telling defeats. The opposite was true in the end as he easily won the event and the Russians realised they were confronting a true chess monster. Huge applause followed his victories and rightly so. Although naka here plays like a genius at speed chess, with respect to Nakamura, Fischer was at “another level” in blitz from what I saw then compared to watching naka , Carlsen and company playing blitz now in 2018 here on KZbin.
