@@melaniestarkey7868 You couldn't have stated anything more obvious. However, seeing pictures isn't the same as seeing it for yourself. Every time I've had the chance to see an interesting astronomic event, it has been ruined by clouds or some other factor. Solar storm resulting in aurora that should be visible where I am? Clouds. Rare type of supermoon? Clouds. Neowise comet? Clouds and other complications. For each, I could see pictures, but it's just not the same.

Magnitude 3-4 in September, well before closest point... though that might be the brightest. Fingers crossed. 3-4 is very visible with the right conditions.

What do you know of " their purpose " ? It is only a lump of rock and ice orbiting the sun in an extreme orbit . Maybe in the past they deposited "stuff" on earth but it was more than likely a natural cosmological process that has no concious thinking behind it.
