🚀 Starting Point: Narkanda
Commencing our expedition in Narkanda, the mercury dipped to a chilling -7 degrees Celsius. Equipped with layers to combat the biting cold, we set out at 9 a.m., ready to embrace the unknown. Covering 96 kilometers, our first pit stop after crossing Rampur Bushar offered a glimpse of the well-maintained roads thanks to the efforts of Nitin Gadkari and the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
🏔️ Kinnaur District Thrills
Embarking on the renowned Kinnaur district, famous for its adventurous and treacherous roads, our journey unfolded along the world-famous landscapes. The roads carved along deep ravines and hanging glaciers turned each mile into an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride. By evening, we found ourselves in a traditional home, immersing in the local culture, sharing stories, and experiencing the warmth of the Kinnaur community.
🌙 Nako Village - A Winter Wonderland
Arriving in Nako, we were welcomed by temperatures plummeting to -30 degrees Celsius. The ancient charm of Old Nako unfolded before us as we explored the resilient homes and delved into the rich local culture. The night brought the magic of New Year celebrations, filled with lively folk songs, traditional dances, and the soul-warming taste of local apple whisky.
🏞️ Frozen Nako Lake Adventure
As daylight broke, we ventured to the frozen Nako Lake. Running over its icy surface, slipping and sliding, we laughed in the face of the challenges presented by the slippery terrain. The frozen lake, surrounded by snow-clad peaks, painted a surreal picture of winter wonder.
⛪ Nako Monastery - A Spiritual Haven
Our journey in Nako culminated with a visit to the famous Nako Monastery. Marveling at its ancient architecture and soaking in the spiritual ambiance, we witnessed the seamless blend of tradition and tranquility.

As we bid farewell to Nako for our bike ride towards Kaza, the local community gifted us apples, symbolizing prosperity, and shared a sip of their prized local apple whisky. The warmth of Nako lingered, making our departure truly heartfelt.
