Every Circassian dance has a story and its own costumes. According to a legend, one day, a man sees two birds flying in circles and dancing with each other. Later that day, he attends a dance party and imitates the birds he saw. His partner figures out what he’s trying to do and keeps up with him. The reason why the sleeves are lengthy is that the female dancer represents a dove and the male dancer represents an eagle.
