Other good things about Madrid: 1) it's very clean. 2) It's very socially active. In the city center at least, there are several large plazas that are themselves always active, and they're surrounded by bars, restaurants, cafes and stores. 3) Walk down any street and you'll find even MORE bars, restaurants, cafes and stores. 4) For English-speakers, there is a lot of English signage, and most people I had to speak with, i.e., store clerks, restaurant workers, hotel staff, etc., spoke at least some English. 5) VERY friendly people, all the time, everywhere. 6) The food. I found I didn't like Spanish food, but every kind of cuisine you can think of is represented there, so if you want American, French, Italian, Indian, or Mexican, you can find it.

Thank god you shared about the slower pace of life, I totally get the line about getting anxious when the bill is taking 15+ mins to arrive, like "hellooo Im ready to wrap up" hahaha. I lived in LA 12 years and have a very NYC pace about me lol, now looking for a new home base to run my biz from, so hearing this pointer helps me cross Madrid off the list as a potential home base. I was there a month ago - when it was raining every day. I still fell in love with it and have considered moving there, but I know the summer temperatures are sweltering, and air-conditioning is rare. If I moved there, I would NEED air conditioning.
@robert111k Жыл бұрын
Air conditioning is quite common, and summer temperatures are generally not excessively high. Typically, there are one to three heatwaves each year, usually occurring between mid-July and mid-August. However, even during those days, you can comfortably go for a run at 8:00 a.m. with temperatures ranging from 20 to 24º C. Btw, it's a dry heat, making it quite bearable when compared to the heat in cities located along the shore or near large rivers

Madrid is surely the best city I have been to. I have to say something about some cons: 1. The pace - it's enjoyable in most times, relaxed. 2. The paperwork - never do those stuff yourself, pay someone to do it. However, Madrid pros are over the top. if you can live in Madrid, do it.

Hello Jaime ! I love Madrid but what held me off was the idea that is was not green at all. It was a sourprise to know it was very green. Do u think that is a fact ? Thanks !
@jambasjoe60452 жыл бұрын
@@orsorodrigo It depends where you go! Casa de Campo is the most green part of Madrid which is on the West side of the center and there are greener parts like different gardens and Parque del Buen Retiro. Other places in the outskirts of the city are very very green with little to no construction. So, yeah, Madrid is really big is not just the center.

its not the most green city, that's actually Berlin. reason: in difference to most cities on the planet, Berlin has a true urban-green structure (thanks to the Prussian). this means: back then the city planning was _consequently_ done by filling the city with extra wide streets AND alleys. most cities have that only on boulevards as exception here and then in the older structures. In case of Berlin this means you have more than often a lot of space for street cafes AND pedastrians AND trees/alleys AND a bike lane AND 2 or more car lanes (in the future e-car lanes) AND relatively often additional in the middle another tree row/over ground trains or other trees. Cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London etc. have usually masses of Tree-less streets (often very narrow) or never build this way - only for some representation streets. apart from that you have of course also in Berlin masse of urban-street parks (old ones with classical constructions like statues etc.) and new ones (and over 30 lakes, masses of channels, harbors, 5 rivers etc.). This means: many cities count more or less some wood or other things in which tells not much, because it depends on how the city borders are back then politically decided. if a city has exactly the same green but not within the 'formal' city then its considered less green even if the reality is not like that. in case of Berlin there is also a lot of green and an entire culture landscape (for kings etc. to relax, to play, as representation). the reason behind why the Prussians did that back then was that you had in Germany all the time (already since the Germanic tribes) a lot of 'nature' idealism (sometimes ideology) and when the European cities started to grow more due to the industrial revolution, first big waves of urbanizations then this was also the time when Germany/Prussia became the most dominant and most modern power. And the city planning was made with a garden architect ('Lenne' usually). that was not unusual, but the consequent structural immersion was ...

To both of you this was so helpful! I am exactly what you said was best for Madrid. I’m 28 and really live an already calm simple life. I’m an avid bike and train commuter. This was exactly what I was looking for. I have 2 questions. 1. Would a passive income of roughly 1200 usd be enough to live here as I study to become a teacher? 2. Do you have a videos or know of any that give an helpful overview of the paperwork process? Or other channels? Thank you I wanted to add I am almost the complete opposite. I love taking my time in cafes, having lunch at two and getting up later in the day. I also love cold winter days with sun 😂
@NALBATRAVELS2 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex! So glad to hear our video was useful 🥰 To answer your questions: 1. Yes, $1200 is enough, you just need to be strategic with accommodation (rent a room, or a studio in the outskirts) 2. We don’t have any, although we’re working on putting something together in the near future so we’ll make sure to share it when we do! What we found the most useful when dealing with paperwork is just finding a phone number in the government and call when we didn’t know the process or what to do next. Good luck with the move!
