Grocery shopping is stressful in Germany. There always is a little competition between you and the cashier, whether she can scan the items quicker than you can put them in your bag. BTW: she won, if she tells you the total before you put everything away.
@HexenkoeniginVonAngmar2 жыл бұрын
The trick is to put stuff like cucumbers and apples in between since they have to weigh them first or something made of glass since they are gonna be much more careful with that. My family, in Germany for a family reunion and vacation, just left Schwäbisch Hall this morning. Beautiful town! Years ago, while visiting Schwäbisch Hall, I got stuck on the outside of the canvas wall they had erected to limit access to the main square. Must have been a concert or other performance taking place. I climbed under the canvas, trying to get back to our hotel or where my family was dining. I was greeted on the other side by two workers who probably thought I was trying to enter without a ticket. I pointed in the direction of where I needed to go and said the German equivalent of “my mommy and daddy are there.” They laughed hysterically and waved me through. We still laugh about the experience ourselves. My German is better, nur ein bischen, these days. Enjoy watching your uploads. Thank you.

Cash makes you aware though of the value of products and money...there is a reason why german is quite healthy financially, while the credit card country america many people are constantly in debt...
@reinhard80532 жыл бұрын
I know several smaller and even not so small shops or fastfood shops which have such signs. It seems the cost of credit card transactions is much higher here. The card companies don't like it but there were "discounts" if you pay cash because of that.

They compete in the olympiad levels of check-out speeds. 😂 EDEKA, phaw, child's play... 😂😁😋 Oh, and come on, you ought to give them a biiiig knuckle-sandwich... they obviously didn't watch your videos with the same intensity we did. It's really eye-opening to see someone experience the things you grew up with. These experiences feel common, not special anymore. Hence, seeing the city, the food, and nature through visitors' eyes makes you appreciate what you have. However, we have scarcely any water fountains in Germany, I can totally agree.

Do you realize Germany is objectively one of the best and most beautiful countries to live in in the entire world? What's dangerous, however, are the strong forces trying to make you hate your own cultural heritage and feel guilty. I hope you're aware of it and keep your head straight up - just think of all the great inventors and artists who outweigh any of your past mistakes. AND you're one of the few nations that actually learned from the past - unlike many others.

Great memories here. I went to school for six months at the Goethe-Institut in Schwaebisch-Hall in the early 90s. Some of the happiest days of my life. A magical place. Stayed first in the noisy old Studentenheim, before moving to a quiet hotel. I remember the ancient Cathedral downtown, and the wonderful Greek restaurants. (You should have visited the fabulous swim hall with its' outdoor circular slide, saunas, and steam rooms.) Thanks for showing me my past.

It is amazing how quickly your brain switches into 'everyday mode' and you just kind of take all interesting and enjoyable things in your town for granted. I just returend from 1 1/2 months of trabel 2 weeks ago and it's already setting in. Try the Schnaps tasting, brilliant! And for Pizza there is only Pasta e Basta @Fraunhofer U-Bahn Station, and opposite you have Bergwolf Imbiss (they import their Currywurst from NRW - LOL - proper and authentic Currywurst Pommes Schranke (white and red, Mayonnaise and Ketchup) Another cute Biergarten is Gasthof Hinterbrühl near the Flossländle.
