Nalgene Water Bottle Wire Hanger Mod Modification

Nalgene stainless steel water bottles are extremely popular among the bushcraft and outdoor community. They are made from thick single-wall stainless steel and can be used as a standard water bottle, or to sterilise water over a fire - and this is what makes the Nalgene bottle so special. Hi! Thats a very interesting tips. A suggestion I would make is to use cable ends used on bike cables to properly secure those sharp cable ends.

very smart hack. 2022. not the easiest find for the terminal connectors AND removing the plastic. Leaving them connected together way easier to work with.

That is a great mod Callum and I use it on my Stanley cook pot with handle removed. I use a fish mouth spreader for hanging and moving my nalgene stainless bottle when using it in, over or by the fire. I have a similar nesting cook kit to yours that all nests together inside a plastic bag for easy removal from inside my Condor h2o pouch. Thank you for sharing. Paul :)

Take a stainless steel skewer and bend a full turn round something like a pencil. Cut one tail end so that centre of the loop to the cut is just under the bottle's radius. Cut the other end about half an inch longer and then fold that end over by the same measurement. Attach a wire to the loop and you have your hanger. One end of the hanger will hang lower than the other because the bent over end is heavier. Lower the hanger into the bottle and when the uppermost end is below the shoulder of the bottle lift it and the hanger will engage on the bottle. It's the same principle as a fish mouth spreader but is lighter and easier to carry. ATB

I have no idea about the reason for what the people still want stand the bottles over the fire if it is so simple putting the bottle directly on the ground with fire lol, just put the bottle in the fire and let it boil the water. Why it need fly over the fire? LOL
