Hey girl... glad to see your surgery went well. Its unfortunate about the news you received about the lymph nodes. I myself had only one affected and chose to have them all removed. I didn't want to take any chances. Its has been a rough recovery for me. I had my dbl mastectomy on the 5th with immediate reconstruction with the expanders. Three days later the drains stopped working on my left side and got a huge infection. On the 12th had to go back and had both expanders removed. My pathology report came back with no disease being found... which had been the greatest news I had heard in a long time. Radiation is up next. .. hopefully in the next 3 weeks. Know that it really comes down to your preference... whatever decision that will give you peace. I am doing my exercises daily and slowly getting back to normal. I will not lie it has been difficult. You're a tough cookie though..... know you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Hi Jessica, Thanks for sharing your story. You are a true warrior and made me realize that i should be thankful for my somewhat easy recovery. Congratulations on your pathology report! We will probably be doing radiation at the same time! always good to know we're not in this alone.. despite never wishing this upon anybody. I know its tough but it will all be worth it in the end! Happy to know you are doing your exercises daily. The best way to beat this is to use both fist in combat. one fist is the treatment, the other is our exercise and diet. We are always in control! Let us never forget that. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers aswell. Love, Nalie

Hi Natlie, when you had reconstruction surgery did you have immediate reconstruction and a implant or did you wait until after radiation?

Dr Boileau is such a great doctor! he also follows me at the Jewish General Hospital, cancer prevention center. He performed my double lumpectomy just a few months ago and went very well. what I love is that because I am only 25 he makes the patient to doctor experience comfortable and explains everything with ease and patience. Nalie I know this video is fairly old but I thought I'd also add that you've been an inspiration to me as you've been to many others. you brought the fight in me 😄💜

Dear Nalie, one lymph node infected is a very good news! It is so curable Nalie! My mother (62 year old) had Axillary Lymph Node Dissection last year and Doctor took out 20 lymnph nodes to be investigated as well and eventhough it is rough, she is recovering well. U will be okay Nalie....:D

Hi Nalie, Quick question, I thought chemo kills cancer cells how comes you still had 1 of your lymph node positive? Anyone else knows why? Please comment. PS. Thanks for your videos, very helpful.

Because sometimes chemo is not 100% effective. She said it got rid of 70% of the cancer in her breast. If the tumor is large or if the nodes have a lot of cancer cells in them, sometimes you don’t get a total response.

hi Nalie. You must be confident, with or without nodes removal. Your tumor was large at first, and having just one lymph node infected are really good news: that doesn't affect the good prognosis you have. The radiation will sterilize all your lymph nodes. If they decide to remove your lymph nodes you will have sessions with a physiotherapist to avoid lymphodema. All is gonna be Ok. What doctor said are really good news :)

Thank you for helping me realize that i should be thankful for my prognosis! I actually DO NOT need node surgery anymore but i will do radiation soon. Your words were very encouraging. Love always, Nalie

I think my case is very much like yours. I did the sentinel node procedure today. Will have surgery tomorrow. Did you do Chemo first, then radiation?

Doctors aren’t always right, that’s why you need to get second and third opinions. Hindsight is 20/20. And there is no way to know whether the cancer had already become systemic, even if they had removed all the nodes.

Hi Lin! Chemo kills what it can. My tumours shrunk to the point you couldn't feel them anymore by hand. But upon biopsy, they injected a tiny piece of metal to track my tumors. And upon surgery, they found that 30% of my cancer was still left. That's why often surgery and radiation is recommended after chemo.
