purushaartha nishtai
The 3rd padam of ashtaakshara mantram shows the parama purushaartham - kainkaryam to Him.
The adayaalam of purushaartha nishtai is that we should expect nothing other than kainkaryam to Him. In this life after saranaagathi, we may encounter ups and downs in life. We should accept these with equanimity.
utpatti sthithi naashaanaam (life has piratthal, irutthal and maritthal - all in accordance with our karma. we don't control our birth (high/lowly) or timing and circumstance of our death), sthithou chinthaa kutastava? (so why do you worry about only sthithi, as if you can control it?) yathothpatti yathaa naasha: sthithis tad tad bhavishyathi (just like birth and death sthithi will also happen as ordained only).
acheshtamaanam aaseenam shri: kanchit upathistathi (a person without doing anything may get so much wealth), karmee (in another case, one who takes all actions) karmaanusrthyaanyo (per his karma) na praashyam adhigacchathi (does not even get enough food to eat).
utpatannapi cha aakaasam vishannapi rasaathalam attannapi maheem krtsnaam (one can reach for the sky, explore paataalam, or wander all across the world) naadattham upathishtathe (but we wont get what He has not given us, per our poorva karma)
His vaakyam - yat kinchit varthathe loke sarvam tanmadh vicheshtitham (all that happens in this lokam is by Me) anya: hi anya chinthayathi (others think they have done) svacchandam vidhadhaamyaham (But I do by My desire - as samoham sarvabhutheshu)
No matter our efforts we will only get what has been ordained for us, This is all His cheshtitham and per our karma. So we should neither take credit when things go well nor worry unduly when we encounter failures.
