In south India, particularly Tamil Nadu and Kerala it is pretty common. One time in Mughakambikai temple, where Jesudas is a bakth of Amman, he came for his birthday and sang non stop for an hour, it was a great moment for me as a child. Likewise we sometimes have drums in ayaapa temples. I am not sure about the north.

Do this every weekend, Saturdays so that everyone can attend. Get everyone participating. Energy within will be charged because of feel good factor apart from god's blessings. Enough to endure whole week of work until the next weekend. Keep on doing this, more will want to go to the temples apart from praying.
