FYI...Rajendra planned to change his capital from Tanjore to Chozhapuram in order to have quick access to the ocean(to spread the trade and to have control over the Malaysian peninsula trade route) through the kollidam river also he had a massive naval base in the kollidam estuaries region...after changing the capital he thinks of purifying the capital with ganga water...he took a war to get the ganga water for chozhapuram... defeated the kingdom of rajamundry... defeated kingdom of odissa...then entered now called Kolkata region...The Kolkata region on that day was ruled by pala kingdoms...to defeat the pala he needed to defeat the three small kingdoms...defeated them and defeated pala too....then brought the water to Chozhapuram in golden pots and created an artificial man made huge lake...then Chozhapuram gets its name as Gangai Konda Chozhapuram...and it got purified by Ganges water...there is some historical thoughts like he intentionally build the temple smaller than big temple in the thought of not overcoming his father... rajendra was also called kadaaram kondan after capturing Malaysian peninsula countries...many countries paid duty charges to cholas in order to use the Malaysian peninsula trade route...

கங்கை கொண்டான் சோழன் (கங்கை வரை சென்று போரில் வென்றதன் நினைவாக கட்டப்பட்டது). கங்கையிலிருந்து நீர் எடுத்து வந்து சோழவரம் என்ற ஏரியை அமைத்தார்கள். இவர்கள் கங்கை சென்ற போது பாண்டியர்கள் சோழ நாட்டில் நுழைந்து கங்கை கொண்ட சோழபுரத்திற்கு அடுத்த ஊர் (சென்னை சாலை) மீன் சுருட்டி வரை சென்று அங்கு பாண்டியர்களின் கொடியை (மீன்) நட்டனர். சோழர்கள் கங்கை வெற்றியுடன் திரும்பும் போது சோழர்கள் பாண்டியர்களின் மீன் கொடியை சுருட்டி வீசினார்கள். அதனால் அவ்விடம் மீன் சுருட்டி என பெயர் பெற்றது. கங்கை கொண்ட சோழபுரம் முற்று பெற்றது. ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் கொள்ளிடம் பாலம் கட்ட கற்கள் எடுத்தார்கள் (குறிப்பு : சோழ நாட்டில் {தஞ்சை பகுதியில்} கருங்கற்களே கிடையாது). அதன் பின் சோழ வம்சம் குலோத்துங்கர்களிடம் சென்று தாராசுரம், ஸ்ரீமுஷ்ணம், சிதம்பரம் போன்ற பகுதிகளில் ஆட்சி புரிந்தனர். அதன் பின் முகலாயர் வருகையால் சோழ நாட்டில் உள்ள அரண்மனைகள் அழிக்கப்பட்டது. சோழர்கள் 2 வகையினர் முற்கால சோழர்கள் பிற்கால சோழர்கள். முற்கால சோழர்கள் (கரிகாலன், மனுநீதி சோழன் எனப்படும் எல்லாலன், பராந்தகன்) பிற்கால சோழர்கள் ராஜராஜன், ராஜேந்திரன், அதன் பிறகு குலோத்துங்கன் (சோழனின் மருமகன்) குலோத்துங்க சோழன் 1, குலோத்துங்க சோழன் 2, போன்றோர்கள்.
