Surname usually in our subcontinent is related to caste , Sheikh is also caste , you can keep your surname whatever it is like "marwa" along with yazdaan , or if you want to keep muslim surname keep something which is not related to caste , and main thing is your intention in keeping muslim name should be good that's all Allah loves. And yazdaan can also be your children's surname , that's not a problem , like we are keeping are father's name 'Hasan' as our surname. Meaning of name should be good that only matters because in hadees it came to keep good names because name have an effect on character of a person . Son , regarding changing your name , it is important to maintain your original surname as long as there is no element of shirk involved in it, you can also keep your name as param itself, even I have a very peculiar surname which does not sound Muslim at all , I used to have Khan in my name , I removed it and kept my original family name. That’s because even after say 300 years someone in some part of the world can recognize my generation from the family name. You have the right belief which is more important in the sight of Allah. Alhamdulilah. It’s absolutely your choice. This is just a piece of advice from a Sr Citizen watching from Bahrain. I too am from Pune. Wishing all the best for you and all your family.
