A decade ago, an eccentric New Mexico art dealer hid more than $1 million worth of treasure somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. In June, he said someone had found it, but that person wished to remain anonymous. Now, the man who found Fenn's treasure is unmasking himself. Janet Shamlian reports.

You people, just like the one's who put themselves in harm's way, obviously didn't listen very hard to what Fenn himself had to say. He said that the treasure would be easy for anyone to get to and nothing dangerous should have to happen in order to reach it. After all he his the treasure himself in his 80's and made 2 trips that day to do it. He has also made several trips to check on it. You people either don't listen or are just drama queens.

@Desiree Hall I don't take that as an insult coming from you. Seeking information and not spewing lies is actually a good quality. Might wanna try it sometime. No one knows everything, but as soon as you meet the first person that tells you they do, run the other way.

@Desiree Hall how do you know it was treacherous?? As Fenn said you would trip over it once it is view, so it was out in the open.

@franklopezzz - Lawsuit? Tell me more. The whole point of hiding the treasure was for "the thrill of the chase". Whether it existed or not, the goal would have been achieved. Sadistic perhaps.. I dont think so. However, if I had found the treasure I would have setup a foundation that continued to hide tokens that could be redeemed for smaller amounts like $1k USD. That kind of thing would get lots more people visiting national parks which would increase peoples appreciation and awareness of their value which I think would increase the probability of their protection...National/state parks that is. And last time I checked ALL assets converted to currency are subject to either capital gains tax or simply counted as income. Maybe you meant if he DIDNT sell for cash?

@@moonrooster7160 nice pathetic attempt. But if I rigged up a game say at an amusement park and it killed five people would you be still saying the same weak and fallacious argument. Lol come back when you found your brain

@@77Avadon77 Even if they called it off Forest would never reveal the exact location. Restricting it would've cause people to search for it more. Which is the mandela effect.

@@user-qp5yu1zq1m People didn't care about the location, they wanted the treasure. He should have brought it back and used the money two help the ones who lost their loved ones. That's what any ethical person would do. In the end this was all about Fenn's vanity.

Did Barbara Andersen file that lawsuit and try to steal the treasure chest from Jack Stuef?

Hi CBS, I think you should know that this was a staged find, but that Fenn DID actually encrypt his poem, which has been decrypted and shows a different solver. Thx
