Is there really supposed to be a 4 before methyl or a N like this N-Methyl-2-Hexanamine

the example at 2:54 ? It would be 4-Methyl-2-Hexanamine. Since the CH3 (or the methyl) is branched off of the 4th carbon in the carbon chain.

N is used when the alkyl group is attatched to some amine fucntional group. Here, since alkyl group ( methyl group ) is attatched to 4th carbon atom ( numbered according iupac ) the name should be N-methyl.
