I bleached my hair and bleached my roots from black to platinum blonde at the salon without snapping off all my hair!!!

It kinda became stronger since none of the strands got split ends and there was no breakage

Hello I am a professional hairstylist that has been bleaching my own hair for about 8 years straight now. And my hair is naturally very dark like yours. My advice to you is do not wait to for your roots to grow out so long. The longer your roots get, the more possibility for your hair to be too yellow or orange because that part of your hair is cooler than the hair on your scalp which is much warmer. Any hair near your scalp will lift much faster because of the heat emanating from your scalp. That's when ppl end up with "hot roots". Your mom should have applied the bleach farthest away from the scalp first, let that lift and then gone back and apply at the scalp. She wouldn't have even needed to bleach it with 40 vol and 3 times. I'm surprised you didn't get a chemical burn! I try to do my roots every 4-6 weeks. I use 20 vol and use Guy Tangs Big 9 bleach with Olaplex. I don't use heat because the heat from my scalp helps process it but I do use a plastic cap to keep the bleach from drying out. And Olaplex makes a difference. Also the developer I use is for sensitive scalps so it doesn't burn. I've tried regular developers and my clients can tell the difference. Bleaching is high maintenance but don't need to be so much work if you keep to a schedule. Hope that helps. Looks amazing!

i'm not a stylist but I've learned a lot for almost 3 yrs being platinum blonde, I do it as soon as 2 -3 wks worth of regrowth, if schedule isnt busy then 2 wks. things I make sure I do on every session is to keep the bleached areas saturated and make sure it won't overlap using a 20 vol, keep it on for 1hour till I go back and check the color then bring the bleach a little bit lower onto the areas where there are visible bands then once done, keep it on for another 30 mins. after that, it should be super light then leave the rest of the work to my toner ( improvised ). it was really very difficult to watch hearing how many times that 40 volume was on her head. I felt hell when I first did that mistake yrs ago. i know she'll figure it out. I also even recommend this instagram user named @platinum_perfection he's into this so very much.

In my own experience 40 vol on scalp bleach, 3 times with heat would cause extreme irritation and scalp wounds. But your scalp and hair is so resilient! Please do not tone with 40 vol. The hair cuticle is already wide open at level 10, using the higher volume with colour would cause more damage. You’re hair is beautiful as well as a miracle!

Actually toning with 40 vol may eat the toner color because it is lifting and depositing at the same time. 10 vol is totally enough.

One tip that I recently learned and tested on my last bleaching: besides coatting your hair with coconut oil, the day you're gonna bleach it apply more coconut oil mixed with castor oil to the ends. Castor oil is quite dense so it stops the bleach from working on the ends when you wash it out.

this is how i feel about going blonde too. i always wanted to try it but cringed at the thought of the constant upkeep. i finally bit the bullet and got my hair bleached twice + toned, but made it a balayage-ombre sort of thing (it still begins high up on my head) so i wouldn't have to stress over the dark roots so much. also i can't imagine potentially frying hair off at the root, even though my hair has always been rather strong. but like the other person said, i think hair crafting can be therapeutic. i touch up on toning myself and it's fun!

Honestly I'm so glad you make these videos because I always thought I was strange for having such hard to bleach hair, but you're about at the same level as I am. I’m a hair stylist and In my opinion if you want to keep the integrity of your hair the result of the 2nd bleaching look good and just toning it out with a violet toner would of been good. Maybe might not have been as platinum but close enough and waiting a month or so to do another bleaching and toning would have been better. But your hair turned out good.

Hi if want your hair process to turn out all the time platinum blond in only one process or 2 max. You have to get your roots done every 4 weeks. Like you had notice your roots process faster. Use a bleach that can go up 9 levels and you only need a 20 vol. But here the difference your mom should put fine sections of your hair with aluminum in between at your roots then a bag after, because of the incubation between the aluminum and small sections you will have a higher lift even if your volume is not 40 and so that you won't become allergic also to bleach because 40 volume on a scalp can lead to irritation and blisters. Or if your roots has already been longer than 4 weeks then same process but 40 volume not touching your scalp with the aluminum in between and then after when she seen your lift in 30 minutes then she would apply after a twenty-volume at the scalp. As usual use olaplex and olaplex number 2 on your ends while your processing so that they can be treated. And I'm not saying your mom about hairdresser or anything I just wanted you to have a little bit more help in your process in wanting your platinum blonde.

And you don't need to put your hair in the dryer I swear small sections and aluminum makes a huge difference and try blondme by Schwarzkopf or guy Tang my identity. Les Schwab golf also you can buy with it a pigment that you can mix in the bleach and it can color correct your hair at the same time so it won't be as yellow

Vera Garl yea I’m aware it’s uncommon to have bleached blonde hair to your “ass,” lol. Even though I have seen it. I just said long, like a little longer than it is now cause her hair is growing out. Btw you don’t have to bleach your hair just cause your eyes are blue and you have pale skin. Ever see Snow White? Besides I’ve seen plenty of light skinned blue eyes people with black hair. You could make it work for you, I think black hair is gorgeous. If you ever decide to let your natural color grow out try pinteresting people that look like you to give you ideas on how to rock your natural look. Emo isn’t the only look for those features

Hey babe, Just a word of advice from a fellow stylist. Even though your hair is Korean, thick coarse and black. It should never take 3 times to bleach it. The reason it did is because your mom applied it to all of your roots rather than leave the top half inch out, and then go back in after twenty minutes. as you know lifts the fastest because of body heat. From now on I would advise bleaching it when your new growth is half an inch and no more than that, or else you have to address a gold band and it takes much longer. That is why Kim Ks hair is always perfect and she never has issues with a yellow band, she gets the roots retouched every three weeks! Regardless, I think your fabulous and your hair color is goals af!! I can already see it getting healthier. I hope that helps, I’ve been a bleach and tone for years and I find it’s always less damaging to not wait too long to retouch it, which causes overlapping hence breakage. Much love !! 💖

My hair is dyed white, not platinum, WHITE and my roots are black like yours and in my hairdresser I only apply ONE bleaching of 20vol and they get my hair to be totally platinum ... I do not understand why they make you more than two bleachings, it's a slaughter for the hair ...

Namis hair is most likely very coarse. Asian hair tends to be thick. If your hair is black but finer, it wont take as much to get it light
