Nigel's great, isn't he? Great to see him enjoy this day and to see his name on the side of one of my favourite locos. Congratulations fella! 👍

What a thoroughly engrossing piece. I was totally absorbed from start to finish. So nice to see Barry Doe there too. I was only wondering how he was going on the other day. Used to love the ‘fare dealer’ part of Rail.

What a lovely comment, thanks very much!

The honour is palpable. The effort from the multitude of people is humbling. It’s there on the side moving the often forgotten commerce of the country . A true work horse just like the work Nigel did for the benefit of the rail industry. A fitting point in a memorable career that is continuing here on Green Signals. Enjoy it, it was well earned over time. Amacf

Brilliant! Nigel is obviously a man of taste - the Betjeman is always my watering hole of choice when staying in the Kings X area, usually when Eurostarring to and from Europe. And I do envy having your own pub in your back garden! Vince C

Nice one . Congratulations Nigel . We need a model release now so we can have our own Nigel Harris going round in circles !

Very lovely tribute to Nigel which is well deserved, great idea making this video. Just shows all the effort needed, but really how does anyone make sense of that screen showing the live train movements!
@GreenSignalsАй бұрын
Thanks Allan and agree - I thought i could read timetable planning screens but the ECML was challenging!

Fascinating insight into a behind-the-scenes process that has happened so many times over the years, something we mere mortals often only became aware of when Nigel's Rail Magazine broke the news to us all, in print, a few weeks later, so thank you all for sharing this momentous occasion with us. I'm sure most, if not all, of us are incredibly envious of Nigel receiving this finest of accolades, which is so richly deserved! Hopefully the "Nigel Harris" nameplates will be seen across the network for many, many years to come, whether on 66312 for a very long time or some possible successor as sometimes happens.

This video was beyond excellent and well deserved to a true railway man through and through ,as some one who has had rail in my blood for over 50 years this was excellent

Thank you all! Absolutely fascinating - who knew just how much planning is required for a naming ceremony? The Green Signals membership is worth every penny for behind the scenes documentaries like this!
@GreenSignalsАй бұрын
Thanks so much Brian. We couldn't believe just how much planning was required either! The team at GB Railfreight were just amazing. We're delighted that you're enjoying membership and thank you so much for supporting us.

lovely video. There seems to be a problem with the audio. which oscillates in and out.
@GreenSignalsАй бұрын
Interesting. I have listened to it again and although there are couple of places where I can detect the gate opening on the voice isolation filter if I listen carefully on monitoring headphones, i cant hear any oscillation. Could you give me an example with a time point?

Dear video editors. Please call the "five white light Junction Indicator" the former or a "JI". Sorry to be a pedant. Chris Exley
@GreenSignalsАй бұрын
That's fine Chris. It's good to be pedantic. But has the word 'feathers' never been used then?
@ChrisExley-sk1fhАй бұрын
@GreenSignals Nigel, it depends on which area of the country you were in. South of the river, they were luna lights, feathers in north West. Routers in the Northern area. But when doing signal sighting, we needed a common. name given by the rule book, junction indicator, was the best description. Sorry!
