pro tip @6:51 - don't put the lid on the pot when you are deep fat frying. Condensation collects on the lid, then that water drips into the pot when you lift it. This can cause MASSIVE grease splatters/burns/fires. Just keep the lid off while you cook.

By California standards (Yen converted to USD) this is a very very modest, even strict budget. Very much like what a young university student might spend, mostly just for basics. Then with a few carefully chosen special treats added to that. VERY interesting! I learned a lot!

Making money only is not a complete life. There is something beyond in our life. Any way Good night sister🍭 Have a good night sleep.

I like how you point out that budgeting and expenses can vary from person to person. And give yours as in example. I especially liked this bc most budgeting videos, ppl cut out a lot of hobby’s and experiences of life to just save more. Yes, saving money is good, but there’s no need to hoard all of it too the point you live a bland life. I like how you give yours openly. Very nice video. ❣️🖤❣️

Thank you Nami for such a thorough and very useful insight into Japan's expenses for a single person. I learned from you today that regarding food one should keep in mind healthiness and not overspend on it at the same time. I have to work on this. Othersise saving on all areas is my speciality. I always watch the price to value ratio and try to save everywhere. I rarely buy take outs, go to a cafe is unknown to me, as a family we used to go sometimes to a restaurant or buffet but it's already forgotten snce so many years passed. My cooking skills are poor but I am trying to make something edible, no wonder I have stomach problems already. I'd like to visit Japan but this pandemic is killing everything. After wathing your videos so far I am concerned if I could find any job there to survive... maybe just some night guard or so since I don't know Japanese yet. Oh well I better stop dreaming

@vedcon I used to save everything first - this is a good starting point, however, do be very careful. I am almost 50 now, and as I look back I see patterns where I easily could have taken a holiday here or there with my partner, year after year and didn’t. Those potential experiences are lost and the memories have value, be it a holiday or a night out with friends, so balance is important.

Enjoy your life while you are still young. Work without play is not fun. Life is short. Make the most of it. Some people work 3 jobs until they retire. When retirement comes, the body is so worn out. What's the use of money if the health is gone? Health is wealth. Money and good health is o.k. but when the body is sick, money cannot give life and happiness. Take care and enjoy your life. 🥰🥰🥰

I lived on a similar budget in Japan, but I saved almost no money unfortunately because I found it hard to track my spending (only using cash, cards and applications were only just becoming more common when I left). Now back in my home country I see the importance of saving first, rather than saving whatever is left over. My standard of living hasn't changed much at all, but I have been able to save so much more just by setting aside a set amount each time I get paid. Anyway, it's just different styles of budgeting, and we should each do what works for us :)

Not to get all up in your Business but I use Excel. I Calculate My Monthly Bills, then I divide it by Four because I get paid Weekly. I then put in a certain amount in an Account that I can't go to unless it's my own bank. I live in Canada. Then I write down when My Bill is due in My Agenda. When I get paid on Thursday Morning, I get up extra early and then I pay My Bills. I get My Bills Online and I print them out, I then use a Date Stamp and indicate it was paid then I type in the Confirmation on The Bill. When it is "Paid" off, I tear it up. Also as crazy as it sounds using a Piggy Bank is also cool for change. When I wanted to go on Vacation, I used it and I put a Picture of where I wanted to go. It took me a Year and alot of willpower but I did it.

All your expenses (utility bills, gym) are very similar to the UK, except groceries, rent (London) and restaurants are a bit more expensive here. When I was in Japan, I was surprised that sushi in restaurants and soba bars, popular for lunch, are inexpensive in Japan.😋 For example, a good studio apartment in central London costs around £1,000. Couples are more likely to afford this price than singles. Young people often look for flatmates to split the costs of rent.😥
