I am in tears. I love Jimmy Smith, the King of the Hammond B . Organ. Joey Defrancesco was supposed to go on tour with Jimmy in 2005, unfortunately, after losing his wife months earlier, Jimmy passed away, Joey and Jimmy never made that tour. Joey is carrying the mantle for one of the most spiritual instruments on the planet. I hope to see him play live, as I was trying to procure tickets for the tour he and the Master Jimmy Smith were to undertake together. I just sent this to my nephew...

Those bass lines are perfectly groovy, funny, much more high above sadness and and anger, and let us come in this joyful singing welcoming world of Music with all these subtle and smart chords that play with us and surprise us because they do not arrive exactly when and where they were expected... Nice funny version, cover of my favorite song ever ONE HUNDRED WAYS

Bruh, you might be stretching that just a tad there my friend! Don't forget there was Jimmy Smith, Charles Earland, Jimmy McGriff, Groove Holmes and Jack McDuff, all of which I got a chance to play except for Groove Holmes! Not to mention the females organists, Shirley Scott and Barbara Dennerlein and a whole host of beasts!! Taking absolutely nothing away from Joey DeFrancesco, whom I've had the pleasure to meet and hear him play live, he is such a beast in his own right and may be the best living today, but the best who ever lived on this earth, c'mon bro, back it up a little bit bruh!! LOL I feel you though!!!

Absolutely Joey no question but the greats innovated and changed the game......can I respectfully put forward the one and only a Brian Auger......who introduced a new more modern approach the the Hammond blending beautifully jazz, rock, soul and funk! Herbie Hancock called him the greatest Hammond player alive and he has been so productive since the early 60s. There is room on this earth for all these greats however, and Joey is most certainly one of them.

I first heard Joey D. on a jazz radio station in the SF Bay Area (KCSM); playing his rendition of "Work Song", from his 'Live at the 5 Spot' album; back in what I believe was 1992 or 93. Since then, I've had nothing but great admiration and respect for this gentleman.

I own 3 Hammonds / Leslie 122s and 29 other keyboard instruments (Rhodes 88 Suitcase, Nord 5D 61, Korg SV-1, 2 acoustic pianos, etc).... With a single exception, I have seen this young man every time he has visited St. Louis, MO since 1995, when he is in concert at the intimate jazz venue, "Jazz at the Bistro" - almost yearly. Although I'm sure my butt is sitting on the chair, my bod is doing some funky wigglin' - and I'm not right for a couple days. I'm ALWAYS left amazed and in a daze at his keyboard wizardry!!

No surely not a B3, but honestly .. as long as you have one or a a couple 122 leslies or even a modern 3300, Any of the 4 biggest clones will do (Hammonds own XK-5 being one, Crumar Mojo, The Legend or Nord). Wouldn't by any chance drag a B3 around today unless I had a couple technicians to keep it alive and a personal shipping company + roadies to drag it for me.
