@@ozgz1946 you understand music is a business right? So if you know that music is a business, you'd understand that growth is essential to ensuring you can continue to make money. The police have ensured that onefour cannot make money through live performances (which, for most musicians, accounts for more than half of their money), and I'm not so sure the first merch collection did so well. So, the only current revenue stream they're making from music is streaming. Creating more mainstream singles help create new listeners, which mean more streams, more views on their KZbin channel, which make more social media followers, which create, you guessed it, more revenue streams and bigger profit margins. With a bigger audience, they can introduce a bigger audience to their current catalogue. But, as well as this, they can grow as artists. Music evolves constantly and as an artist/ group it's all about ensuring, as you grow and develop your talent/sound, that your sound grows and evolves with trends/new sounds. Putting the same shit out all the time to stratify the same/smaller group of fans makes you stagnant. People get sick of the same sound after a while. Yes the majority of their core base fans came through their drill music, but stepping outside the lane to try new genres shows their talent to evolve, allows them to reach new audiences and hopefully will see them being played on mainstream radio/ playlists more frequently. So, again, just because you couldn't grow mould in the damp dark corner of your cupboard doesn't mean them using their brains and talent to make more money in a financial climate that's akin to hell freezing over and doing so successfully means they're all of a sudden a sell out.
