Hospitality Network Engineer here, fun fact! When your phone prompts "unsecured network" on hotel Wi-Fi, it doesn't know about the firewall rules, client isolation, or any other security mechanism implemented on the network. All it thinks is no password = no security. However, I will highly advise caution when on local coffee shops or any other small mom and pop shop. They usually don't have the budget for an IT guy to set up their network, and even then most general IT guys don't have an in-depth understanding of networking, unless they go for that certification.
