Great work and nice prop. The biggest issue I’ve seen in my career is that the majority of holes in a floor from a fall through are created by very intense fire. Rarely will the floor immediately around a hole be strong enough to allow multiple firefighters, let alone one, be directly on the edge. Additionally, we talk about fighting fire through that hole. The fire and flow path will be directly along the ceiling of the basement and then venting out of that hole. There is a reason that we don’t fight basement fires from the top of the stairwell and lob water down the stairs. It is likely that the firefighter who has fallen will be conscious. It’s not like he has fallen 20 feet. They will move from the fire area as quickly as possible. As a result of these issues, always train and look at the staging of at least one folding ladder to place over or next to the hole to have it support your weight. One on either side would be best. Then consider and train on how to rapidly make a second access opening if the stairwell isn’t readily available. The stairs being the best method for moving up and down levels. Consider how you would place the second hole or widen exterior windows. .. Battery operated quickie saws won’t choke out in smoke and can be directed by TIC. Battery operated combi tools can cut through flooring and stringers surprisingly fast if you practice it. Just more random thoughts brothers. Stay safe.

Lots of good consideration, this is not a video of THE way to do a Nance drill merely a way. As you will have heard many say before me "conditions drive tactics" know many ways of doing a single task so when somthing happens you have the ability to apply the way that best suites the current task and conditions in front of you. Thanks for your time in watching and in sharing some knowledge.

Nice prop! Zero visibility in heat, your going to feel for a dangling rope twice, package the down firefighter, scream slack multiple times 🤔 even if everyone trains once a month this skill would be a nice challenge. But when you train for this scenario once a year, good luck. Okay, you have a bad ass prop… this clip you have up should be the dry run (practice). want the run with everyone on air, maybe half your crew with scuba mask covered for zero visibility, with a timer running. Then just try the basic technique of attack line under bottle to compare, come to a conclusion based on your training. That would make for a far more interesting video.

Thanks for your comments. Students do this with the trailer smoked out to zero visibility, everyone on air in each course we do.
