This was the record that let me discover Nanci. I had never heard of her, and I wasnt buying new music, because I was kinda broke. I love music of all kinds, and I was in the habit of checking out all the new music at Seattle Public Library, and I liked the cover of this album so I took it home. I played it and started cleaning my apartment. I had to stop just a few bars into the first song and just listen. This music affected me deeply. So I scraped up the money and bought it and played it to a couple of friend and they cried and I knew I had discovered pure gold in this artist. Got to see her live two times. I discovered that her albums make up the biggest section in my music collection when I pulled them out to listen to them this week. God bless you, Nanci. Catch that blackbird's wing.

god bless you jeff. for being able to put down the truth in such a straightforward and simple manner. How lucky are we. That beautiful ladies choose to allow us to associate with, and bask in the aura of their all round wonderfulness.lol.

Authentic, unpretentious, talented, cute, sexy and beautiful. When she smiles that sort of crooked smile and opens those big brown eyes when she's performing....and then uses her raspy voice mixed with her sweet soft vibrato and pouts that lower lip...that's when I love her most. I sadly discovered Nanci later in her career and later in my life. I was genuinely crushed when I heard she had passed.

As a white girl who learned what white people REALLY did to Native American Indians in the mid 80s (bless you and thank you Mr. Ken Burns), just allowing my thoughts to go there can tear my heart to shreds and make tears roll down my cheeks. I appreciate Nanci sharing her awareness of the atrocities that occurred without making me feel suicidal for being a descendent of migrants from the UK. She was so beautiful - inside and out. I hope one day we can know more of her story, so that we can know and love her even more.
