Magnificent Nanci! The truly great NANCI GRIFFITH! Saw her live many times here in England and always my favourite female artist! Truly missed!

I’m a machinist and I made Nanci a pair of miniature brass candlesticks. I have that sweet memory forever of making them and giving her the only thing I could think of that showed my love and gratitude for all the joy she brought to me. I have all her albums and I play some guitar and my favorite song to play is “Across the Great Divide”. That plus “There’s a light beyond these Woods, Mary Margret”. I am blessed to have these memories and to have seen her in concert many times. A true angel and amazing songwriter. I am so sad she’s gone. She had tough life especially with her heath problems. I will miss her everyday of my life. RIP my sweetheart.

Do you know how she passed? Or have a good idea?

@@andygossard4293 We were expecting to hear something Friday as Nanci requested not to release cause of death until one week after she’s passed. Apparently she knew she was close to dying. The only thing I have seen is she died of natural causes. I think I saw somewhere that she was sick for a time before she died. So, it is a little unclear.

Even though our beloved Nanci Griffith has passed we can take great joy and comfort in keeping her music alive. My first encounter with her was here in Glasgow Scotland in 1990 when she performed at a massive open festival called the 'Big Day'. I had heard her music on the radio but didn't know who she was and after getting to see her live I fell in love with her and her music. So every time Nanci came to Glasgow or anywhere in Scotland I would go and see her in concert. Her music sustained me through good times and bad times and I will be forever grateful to say that I got to see her in concert. She was a true and beautiful soul. May she now have peace and we can still remember her through her music and these videos. RIP Nanci Griffith.

Why do we wait til an artist has passed to check out their work? I’ve loved Nanci for decades but never watched this until learning the sad news. And then to hear her doing the great Prine song . . . almost more than I can bear. Rest In Peace, dear one.

I first heard this gifted folk singer in the early 90s on a (The) Chieftains Christmas record, and for years, her CDs "Other Voices, Other Rooms" and "Flyer" found themselves in regular rotation in my car on long trips across Upstate NY and the Arizona, Nevada, and California deserts. Such a loss...and just 68 years young. This one really hurts. 😢 R.I.P., Nancy.

I can`t believe I haven`t seen this before. With Emmylou, Iris, and Nanci, my three favourite female voices, I don`t need any other voices but I would have loved to have been in that room. Nanci`s death came as a great sadness for me this week, as well as her own great songs I was introduced to many great songwriters by her and there is not a day goes by that I don`t pick up a guitar and play something that I have heard her perform. If I was a believer I would like to think that her, Townes, Guy, John, and Kate are sitting around a kitchen table somewhere taking it in turns to play one. Thank you Nanci.

Greatest ever song writer & folk singer. I loved her. I first saw her in 1987 on Austin City Limits. I was mesmerized by her beautiful songs & voice. I bought everything she recorded. She flew away on some black birds wing in a Texas field of bluebonnets

Rest in peace you beautiful light. I used to listen to Nancy when she came to Dallas Texas and sang at Uncle Calvin's Coffee Emporium, which was a small venue in the basement of a church. She was a force to be reckoned with. I place her up there with John Prine with her song writings and that is a very high place to be. Say hello to John for me Nancy.

Nanci is one of those people. the Bible says we will have all our questions answered when we get there and after my Mother Dad and youngest Brother I'm going to ask why Nanci.?. may this Angel always R.I.P. and we will see her on the other side.

I saw this show the night before, so I missed Ann and Emmylou, but it was still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Nanci was such a singular artist, and though I have listened to her music consistently over the years, I've been drowning myself in it and in my tears ever since her passing. RIP Nanci, and thank you.

So glad I got to see a gig from that tour in the UK. Sometimes when a musician we like very much passes away, we feel it as a personal loss. It's not the same losing a relative or close friend, but it's something like that. Like many others, I suppose, I'm seeking out gems like this to remind myself how good Nanci Griffith was.

I first heard Nanci when I worked in JGWindows Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne. It was a family-run music shop. One of my colleagues was a massive fan of all things country (and much more besides). Every day, he would play this one album constantly until all its riffs and refrains had insinuated themselves in to the heads of many of the staff. That album was the seminal, "Last of the True Believers". I was lucky enough to see Nanci live twice, in Newcastle upon Tyne. She sparkled and had the audience eating out of her hand within minutes. Her music brought me great comfort back then and now, despite floods of tears since last week's terrible news, it continues to give great solace. RIP Nanci. Gone too soon 💔💖
