Well we got rid of one of the twins! I thought Ace and Amanda would break up too... but I guess we'll have to wait until next season. I just don't want another love triangle!

I always thought Nancy & Gill together is a not a healthy relationship. Yes both could be deeply in love but it's toxic. I'm glad she realised that sooner.

Gil was never a good fit for Nancy and I honestly never felt chemistry. As excited as I am for Nace a part of me wants them to wait until after she has a relationship with Tamura. If Nace gets together too early then the CW writing will ruin the relationship with unnecessary drama because they can never just have a healthy, stable, permanent relationship. They need to be endgame and we can't have our endgame couple get together too soon. Fingers crossed season 3 is Nancy and Tamura, with the finale having them break up and Ace breaking up with Amanda and then Nace can happen.

I just think there is so much that's wrong with this conversation: 1) The show is still trying to sell us that the NancyxGil relationship was somehow serious/extremely toxic when we only got to see very little interaction between them. Yes, by what I've seen I can see signs of a toxic relationship (him calling her plan stupid, wanting to take her away from her friends) but we never see enough of Gil's character to confirm if he is usually that way, to actually understand why he does what he does? What are his motives for telling her to leave her friends, what reasons does he have to believe that they aren't good for her? He's barely ever around, I just wish we got a little more character development here even though I don't particularly like him... (I am not trying to defend him here, he is toxic and I don't like his character at all, but he also felt extremely unnecessary to the plot) 2) Gil doesn't seem be all that upset/sad, but more like angry. His first reaction to Nancy breaking up with him was disbelief and then a threat; yes, he had tears in his eyes, but still, to me he just seems like an angry little boy who didn't get what he wanted instead of someone suffering over having lost someone he truly loved. He looks like he wants to be left alone, not as if he really needs his sister by his side. In that regard, Amanda seems kind of like a co-addict to me; while she is able to turn her life around and build something for herself she always feels like she needs to help/save/protect her brother even if he may not need or is in the wrong. I'm not saying being there for your sibling is bad, but their sibling dynamic just feels offputting to me, he also doesn't treat her very well either. 2) Amanda claims Nancy broke up with her brother for no reason. Does she really believe that? Even if he hasn't told her everything she can't be that naive/stupid to believe that anyone would break up with someone for no reason whatsoever? I mean, I could understand siding with your brother after a breakup, but claiming that there was no reason I can't get behind. 3) Ace doesn't judge Amanda's need to be there for her brother until after she says that he's being judgmental. Yes, he judges Gil, but he says that Amanda said the same thing about him and she immediately gets defensive about it, even though it's something she herself has said to him. I guess the reasons she's completely on Gil's side is because he's the only one who has always been with her but I still hope she can eventually live a more independent life and that Gil will change as well. It just gets a little tiring seeing her come to his aid when Gil - so far as I've seen - has done little deserve her devotion and help. So, anyways, if anyone can actually spare the time (and stamina) to read all this and feels like discussing I'm always open to different perspectives ^^

I did kinda feel bad for Gil when Nancy broke up with him because he did look hurt but when he said “you’ll regret it” I just knew he is not gonna let it go. I personally think later on since Ace and Nancy are developing feelings for each other Gil is gonna get his revenge because he doesn’t want his sister to go through the same situation. Another thing was how he was more focused on getting Nancy away from her friends when he wasn’t even noticing how hurt she was, she had so many cuts on her body it was so noticeable but he didn’t once question about it. While Ace is more concerned about Nancy’s well being, Gil is more concerned on who she hangs around with, which is most likely a beginning for a toxic relationship.

@@eee_baek Yeah, I was kind of confused about him not noticing her injuries as well. Gil just doesn't make a lot of sense to me as a character - I mean, I want to understand his behavior and the kind of person he is but they only ever show us snippets and we only get those so that they can show us what a horrible person he is. I think there is more to a person and to Gil's character than his flaws and it's kind of sad that we didn't get to see more of him because the way things are now I can't do anything but dislike him. So far his character just seems like wasted potential, he is only there for the sake of causing drama/being a shallow bad guy. That's also why I couldn't feel bad for him when they broke up, their whole relationship just felt so pointless to begin with and had zero impact on, well, anything, really.

I agree that Gil’s character was not fleshed out enough for us to buy that Nancy would go for him. In regards to her breaking up with him “for no reason,” I’m fine with Amanda or Gill or anyone thinking that. As hurtful as that may feel to the person being dumped, nobody actually nerds an explanation. People can just change their mind and decide they’re not interested in dating anymore.

Gill has always been an ass. Him and Nancy had no business being together. And I definitely remember seeing how toxic he was before this scene happened. But I can’t name the individual episodes unless I refresh my memory. FYI I’m agreeing with you, I just want to make that clear lol.

@moonmoon7319 You're right, I never liked him as a character either, my main problem was simply that he lacked depth or involvement with the plot at all - he was just there and aside from being with Nancy for a short period of time he had no agenda, no characterization, no plot involvement; basically he was badly integrated into the series. If we had gotten more backstory and more interaction with other characters we might have had a chance to have a realistic character but he was simply written into the show to be a one-dimensional bad guy and one further love interest for Nany. Why the show just kept adding random love interests for her that never lasted, I don't quite get. I mean, okay, they were probably trying to underline that Nany has trust issues and can't really commit to a lasting relationship due to her family situation but it got annoying/boring so fast since the show barely ever bothered to give us full-fletched characters - Nancy's non-lasting love interests were always just that and never their own characters that really existed without her
