Message in a Haunted Mansion was not only the second Nancy Drew game I ever played, but it was the game that introduced me to the series because I watched my younger sister play it before I started playing Treasure in the Royal Tower. So I definitely have a lot of fond memories invested in this game as well, and like TRT, I love it pretty much everything about it, and that includes the soundtrack, the puzzles, the secret rooms/passageways, and the hunt for the missing gold!!! 😁😁😁 In fact, one of the reasons why TRT and MHM are among my favorite games is because they are history mysteries that involve finding hidden treasure or valuables, and these games' treasures were the most valuable riches of all: gold in MHM and a diamond in TRT! 😁😄 These games also contain some of the best secret passageways in the whole series, and I think MHM was really the first game to feature secret rooms or passageways, which continued in many of its successors. Some only had one while others had multiple, and their importance to the games' plots always differed, but I always particularly enjoyed the games that had hidden, secret passages or rooms where you would uncover more secrets. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 But MHM is also one of my favorite games because of its spooky atmosphere! 😨😰😱 Even after playing it for over 20 years, I still get creeped out by Abby's seance and some of these hauntings, most especially the inflating chair, moving phoenix head, moving curtains (along with that accompanying noise!), and blinking portrait! 😨😨😨 I'm very much a skeptic in real life, but these kinds of hauntings and some of the eerie sound effects heard have made me wonder if the Golden Gardenia truly IS haunted!!! 😱😱😱
