If I were Nancy, I'd be a little peeved that Joanna, Henrik, and Alejandro all didn't seem that concerned about an eighteen year old girl NEARLY SUFFOCATING TO DEATH INSIDE A STONE MONOLITH.

As someone who has played every single Nancy Drew game since I was 10, I'm 26 now, it makes me so happy to watch Gab play through these. I own every single game's physical copy from back when they released, and watching Gab has made me start to rebuy their digital forms through steam since my PC no longer has a disc drive. I've been replaying the Deadly Device myself. It's nice to finally watch someone who enjoys the series and all their quirkiness. Keep up the good work and happy sleuthing! :D

Wow, Mr. Rose thinks that with the glyph translator in the hospital suffering amnesia, the director of the museum in the police department being questioned, and the museum itself has suffered an act of theft and is barely financially stable; he thinks the best idea would be to put the intern in charge, who has been there a day. Regardless of the fact that it is Nancy Drew, an intern is in charge of the museum and curating an exhibit.

Poppy Dada is a reference to the Dada art movement. Which was basically art but IRL shit posts before even home computers. That's why she's so uh, cavalier about slathering an ancient artefact in varnish and slapping it on a painting. I wish they actually referenced the art movement in-game! I still have an alarm clock that sounds like that. It's almost the most torturous part in the Nancy Drew series :( When I played this, I got SO SALTY when Alexandro revealed the Nahuatl word for snake... I already knew that word! It was the second half of "Quetzalcoatl' after all, the famous Feathered Serpent! I just didn't know that was a Nahuatl word! So mad >:C

So, instead of trying to help a teenaged girl escape a stone coffin that she was about to suffocate in, they instead stayed outside and practiced that speech for if Nancy escaped. WHAT IF NANCY DID NOT ESCAPE? They would've just said, "Oh. Bummer. She died. WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING WE COULD'VE DONE TO SAVE HER."

In my headcanon, Poppy Dada got six months for vandalizing a cultural artefact and was extradited to Mexico. Seriously, I'm an artist and you just don't *do* that shit. Especially against the cultural artefacts of cultures destroyed by people like the conquistadors. It'd be like me walking into the Louvre, grabbing the Mona Lisa and doodling wacky emojis all over it.

For some reason, this particular game ending really reminded me that so many grown ass adults have tried to murder 18-year-old amateur detective Nancy over money, even when they aren’t desperate. The ones who knock her out are less terrifying and terrible than the ones who want her to suffocate or starve to death.

@celestiacrystal93173 жыл бұрын
Right? And she played Shadow of the Tomb Raider, she should remember how to pronounce Ix Chel
@sharondornhoff75633 ай бұрын
In Mesoamerican words that were rendered into European letters by Spanish translators, "X" is usually a place-holder for "SH": a sound that doesn't occur in Spanish, so they used that language's "H"-sound as a substitute.

If you'd asked Prudence if she was having trouble with her cat or dog, she would've had a little bit more to say. She was actually talking to her husband there... for some reason. One of the big stone carvings in the garden says it's on loan from the Wickford estate. If you have the money to buy a tower that has Marie Antoinette's diary and diamond in it, I guess a Mayan art piece wouldn't be all that expensive of a thing, eh? Someone in chat pointed out that Mr. Daddle sounds a lot like Ned (and Charlie the handyman) and it *is* the same voice actor! And it turns out that Henrik's voice is also the guy who played Brady Armstrong. Weird! It was only a brief moment, but Poppy mentioned that Taylor is the "Big Bunny" that Henrik wrote about in the old journal entries you found. I don't think I caught that when I was a kid. The Diego de Landa name was on the shipping/receiving clipboard thing - a jade thing he discovered was being stored back there. That's the box Joanna gave you the code for. It (obviously) isn't something Nancy has to realize, but if you do click on the clipboard after seeing Henrik's notes, Nancy will mention wanting to get into that box. Anyway, it was a lot of fun watching this! Super happy you've been enjoying these games. :D

I appreciate that the devs included the character of Alejandro, but I just need to point out that Mexico is also a settler-colonial nation. When Alejandro says things like "that artefact was lost to me as soon as it left Mexican soil", it seems like he's more concerned with Mexican nationalism than he is with Indigenous ownership of these artefacts -- which is, sadly, a realistic portrayal of some Mexican people, but I do wish that there was a bit more nuance in this game's discussion of the ownership of these artefacts. Boiling it down to "if it's in the US, it's stolen, if it's in Mexico, it's not" ignores the ways that Mexico has also disenfranchised and stolen from Indigenous peoples.
