The elevator death traumatized me as a child and was the reason I stopped playing the game. It single handedly gave me my fear oh elevators that lasted into my early teen years! It's always what comes to my mind immediately when I see this described as a "cozy game" LOL

I never froze to death or tried to jump on ladder or got crushed by elevator. I only pressed that red button for elevator once and even though I wasn’t in hurry I managed to open the door on time.

My game used to glitch when I tried to jump across to the staircase, and I would continue to fall down the elevator shaft and I would have to turn off the game to stop the continuous falling.
