This is a great interview with Ms. McWilliams and the host Mr. Vaz is well prepared. Could I kindly ask that the host refrain from speaking over the interviewee or laughing loudly? As a reference, I suggest listening to podcasts by The New York Times such as The Daily where the host waits until the interviewee is done before saying "hum-hum" and speaks in a calm voice without loud moments. Thank you.

The answer is no, but some of the content was added to her book on supervision.

So is psychoanalysis only for affluent people? Or who's gonna pay for 2+ years of therapy for every poor soul out there just scraping by? Can't the push for shorter therapies be seen as an attempt to increase availability of mental health care -- especially for non-affluent people?

or we could look at revising our health care system so that everyone could afford to be treated better. while some short-term therapies can work well for some, others need more than 30 minutes every other week to understand their issues and find more contentment/agency in their lives. why should we settle for good tx for few/poor treatment for most, instead of good tx for all?

@@leticiaflores4644in what reality is the system going to front up hundreds of dollars a week for YEARS? For who knows how many people? Not gonna happen this century. And in the meantime the rich get decent treatment and the poor get cbt. And psychoanalysis shrugs its shoulders.
