Nanda Devi East is mighty and still a dream for many mountaineers. My first attempt is scheduled to start on 15th September 2022. I'm very eagerly looking for it. Very excited for it.

How did you get the permits? Isn’t the sanctuary closed?
@rudolphteperberry38884 ай бұрын
The normal route up Sunanda Devi doesn't enter the sanctuary but just skirts along the rim. Nanda Devi main summit remains closed but permits for Sunanda Devi can be obtained through the IMF.

@@rudolphteperberry3888 I am within India. How much it will cost?
@rudolphteperberry38883 жыл бұрын
@@travellermani3337 I don't know but I expect it will be cheaper if you're based in India. If you have a climbing team together, it might be a good idea to contact an expedition outfitting company like those listed on the IMF website. They can give you a quote for getting you and your team and all your equipment to base camp. www.indmount.org/IMF/contentDisplayTour

isn't climbing Nanda devi banned by Indian gov?
@rudolphteperberry3888 Жыл бұрын
True Nanda Devi main summit is still banned but Sunanda Devi is open to climbers with the proper permits.
@praveenkanshi8458 Жыл бұрын
@@rudolphteperberry3888 doesn't really make sense to ban the main peak and allow adjacent one 2km away. same with Kanchenjunga. People literally climb from Nepal side but not from Sikkim.
@BagulBowa10 ай бұрын
@@praveenkanshi8458 There has been only one ascent thus far from the Sikkim side, lead by Bull Kumar. That too not without serious casualties. Its mighty, mighty tough route. I am not sure if its banned from Sikkim side. It's just that the North East face is really scary and extremely avalanche prone. Unless - an objective to climb only via that route, the Nepalese route is safer, well documented and supported all the way to base camp via Heli(Ugh!)

@rudolphteperberry38884 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the vid! Unfortunately 8 of our friends were killed in an avalanche on a nearby unclimbed peak, so we abandoned our summit attempt. A Polish team were a couple weeks behind us on Nanda Devi East and some of their members reached the summit. We're hoping to go back for another attempt.
