Gen Z in Kenya deserves applause for their strong demands for accountability, transparency, anti-corruption efforts, and good governance. While these issues aren't new, their passion is clear. However, the real challenge lies with the voters themselves. Many Gen Z voters supported the current Kenya Kwanza government, and some have since expressed regret. The energy spent on anti-government demonstrations could be better used in voter education. A significant mistake has been voting as a group or tribe, leading to choices based on bias rather than merit. This has often resulted in leaders at various levels who may not prioritize good governance. Leadership isn't just about the presidency; it includes MCAs, MPs, Governors, and Senators. If voters are empowered to make independent, informed decisions, it would positively shape the country's leadership. Gen Z can play a vital role in educating the electorate, helping to ensure Kenya is led by individuals truly committed to progress.
