Yes, do earth an aerial before putting the VNA on because many years ago I was in bed and became aware of sparks jumping from my long wire onto the wall. I had known about static build up and always disconnected my aerial when not in use. G4GHB.

Couldn't u use the 50ohm load that comes with vna for a dummy load so u wouldnt have to buy one ?
