It’s probably the quality/impedance of the audio cable, the hiss. The bright sound is because you sampled with one velocity. While sampling, it was hitting the nord keys at max velocity. Pianos are brighter at higher velocity.
@avisreese639311 ай бұрын
I actually did another test with 16 velocities, and the results were still bright. And in regards to the cable, I tried several different cables and none of them were the issue. When used with a different device (Roland SE-02), there was no noise or hiss.

I got the battery back / case for my tangerine and that really helped with the hissing. It seems like a lot of was coming having to power it via USB. Adding a little reverb via the fx send helps with realism. Sometimes altering the envelope might help. Didn't know about the interop thing.

Does anyone know if the tangerine responds to expression and sustain pedals from the midi controller keyboard?

Thanks for the demo! Is it possible the multi-sample sounds so bright because you only recorded one velocty layer and it was quite a high velocity?? (the default value is 100 out of 127). I think even 2 or 3 layers of velocity would greatly improve the warmth aspect for in instrument like piano
@avisreese6393 Жыл бұрын
I thought that might be the case, so I did another pass sampling every note with 16 velocities and the results were unfortunately the same.

@@avisreese6393 Sorry to hear that! I've got one on the way because and I'm gonna use it mostly as a glorified rompler box for computer-less looping setup. But, I'm also interested to see how it takes stuff from my Elektron Syntakt as well to make instruments out of that.... This isn't encouraging, but we shall see what can be done!
@avisreese6393 Жыл бұрын
@@souljer0 I honestly think this is a great device. Even with the not so perfect things that I mentioned, I haven’t been able to find a hardware multi-sampler that functions so easily. And I’ve sampled a number of different sounds and they all sound really good and a bit closer to the original. Anyways, I do hope that you have a good time with the device! I haven’t even begun to explore the looping and sequencing functions yet!

The additional bright high end is somewhat prominent. Do you think an Isolator would be best? I would rather stereo parametric eq but those are very costly I found in my search. Since I own tangerine I am thinking of Vestax 2500 Isolator...would love to hear your thoughts if that may be too drastic and if maybe simple graphic eq is good we enough.

Hello, I bought a Tangerine Nanobox. I've already managed to create some presets and send a midi cutoff message, but the pitch wheel doesn't work! Does this happen to you?
@avisreese63935 ай бұрын
Hello! Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the pitch bend work for any of the sounds. I checked the manual and the only entry on the topic says this: "If you set each pad’s MIDI In parameter to different channels, you can play the tangerine as eight separate instruments and configure them to respond to MIDI channel messages that your controller might send, such as pitch bend, mod wheel, volume, and panning. When pads are played over their MIDI In channels, tangerine transposes their samples chromatically". I don't understand how to get this to work unfortunately.

@@avisreese6393 "Yeah, I’ve tried everything. I even managed to send a CC message to a fader, and the pitch function worked, but it’s not the same. I’ll do some research on the forums or maybe even send an email to the manufacturer! Thanks for the attention.

"The sampling part is working well. I sampled the piano and Rhodes from my Nord, and they turned out great (using Logic Pro's auto sampler). But I'm hitting a snag with this issue.

@@jv411e hello - I'm thinking about using this as a sampler for live sounds I don't use very often - specifically some organ and mellotron sounds - do you think it would work well for that - would it have trouble playing fast passages? Is the polyphony okay?

Will a sustain pedal work with the Nanobox?
@avisreese639311 ай бұрын
Yes when you connect the sustain to the midi controller! The device itself doesn't have a sustain jack though.

@@avisreese6393 Thank you, Yes I understand that, but some synths and devices don't accept MIDI Sustain Pedal Information. Two examples off the top of my head are the KORG FM 2 and the Behringer Solina. These are both new synths. Have you tried it with a sustain pedal? Thank you!

how do you save a sample set?
@avisreese639311 ай бұрын
It saves automatically. Once you complete the multisampling process and it shows up on the home screen, make sure you save it by clicking on the file name and hitting save when the Presets menu appears. If you don’t and switch to another sound, it’s okay. The sounds aren’t lost. Just load the preset. On the home screen, you won’t see the audio files yet (because you didn’t save them to that preset). Click the right arrow and that takes you to the sampling page. Hit “Load”. Scroll down to the filename of the sample set you created. Click load. It takes you to the folder containing the samples. Click load again. You’ll be taken to all of the wav files of the sample set. Click file and the All. Your sounds will now be on the home screen. Make sure to save after this step

Whoa - to me, that piano sounds quite different from the original and that’s concerning. Along with the gain issues, makes me think something must be not working as intended here. Would changing that setting to ‘HighQ’ BEFORE sampling the instrument make a difference maybe?
@avisreese6393 Жыл бұрын
I can definitely try that! I plan on posting another video this week with other sounds that I have sampled. Some of them sound much closer to the originals. I'll also redo the piano with a few changes in the settings to see if I get a different result. Stay tuned for that video 🙂
