just got the 3U G4 version of NF800. I never buy a racket that expensive but it is way better than my 10 years old one when swinging. I would say it is all round compare to my friend's astrox 99 pro and my previous rackets as well as my 370 speed backup racket. good quality and good feeling on hand and worth the price tag. The swing and the feeling is fast, great and solid. The sound breaking the wind is amazing and I got much faster than my old 3U racket for any front to mid court and it is noticeable by my friends as well. The only down side is the frame is smaller and so fast it kinda slip away, it is easy to miss or hitting the frame

Volant Wear I went for the 4U, 5G. I have been playing with a Yonex Z Force 2 4U/5G, but it’s a bit unforgiving with the sweet spot, and I need to speed up my racquet head for my doubles, so was advised to look at something less head-heavy. Also dropped my string tension from 27 to 24lb. Hopefully I can work on my control a bit more than smash.

@PurpleRhino Difficult to give too much feedback on the differences between the rackets having only used the nanoflare 800 in 4x 2hr sessions in this last week and a half. And I have changed my string tension too, and focussed less on my attacking game, and more on defence at the front in doubles. What I would say is that I can play a lot more back-to-back games without getting pains in my shoulder. Control for me placing shots is better (previously “just out” shots have become “just in”). And I dont know whether this is a string tension thing, increasing sweet spot as an average player, or whether due to slightly lighter head. (??) Whatever it is, it's working for my defensive play and better control. But my smash isnt as effective against better players.

Hi Jason, we think the 100ZZ would be better for someone spending more time at the back of the court. The NF800 is head light as well which is not as common for players that prefer the back court.

Hello Cyrus, if I were to put a number to it, maybe 10-15%? The other elements of the racket are essentially the same, it's really just the overall weight that's changed between the two. So anything that weight affects in a racket is different. But as with any shift in one direction, there will be disadvantages too. For example, being more powerful, means slightly slower speed. But because it's a head light racket and moves so swiftly through the air, it's more than fast enough at the higher weight (3U).

I use a NF800 4ug5 which is very solid at the front and rear court. I'm not a big smasher, more like a play maker. Would the astrox 100zz be a better bet for me? My ask is a racket which is fast enough for defence and attack.

Hart to say for you specifically Rohit. Have you considered a 3UG5 NF800? We prefer it over the 4U version as it provides more attacking power (provided that it's not considered too heavy for you and if you have a fast swing speed). 100ZZ on a like-for-like (i.e. 4UG5) would probably provide you with a little bit more power generally speaking, but you wont have as much agility compared to the NF800 with fast play. Hope this helps! :)

Hi WahLeman, Thanks for your message. We haven't had the opportunity to test the NF800LT so can't really comment on that (we've been in lockdown for a while unfortunately and can't get to the courts to test any racquets!). But from our perspective (opinion only), the NF800 is a superior racquet. From what we can tell, the NF800LT is essentially a lighter weight version of the NF800, so if your preference is lighter racquets, then you could consider it. I guess it also depend on whether you have a 3U or 4U version of NF700 if you want to compare the same weight classes an making sure you're comparing apples to apples. Part of your decision will be dependent on your preference, the other part will be dependent on skill. Personally, I don't think there's enough weight in a 5U racquet and that weight class is really more suited to beginners of the sport but because we haven't tried the NF800LT it's hard to comment as we could be completely wrong! Hope this helps!

Henry and Jeff, do you think the shaft might be too stiff for players with weak wrists? I had a NanoSpeed 800 which has quite similiar specs (ultra slim frame and shaft, etc.) but it is an extreme stiff shaft racquet. I am just curious how technology has advanced in over a decade.

Hi Totoro, the shaft is stiff on the NF800 but it's still a very forgiving racquet. Depending on how strong your wrist is, it might be a limiting factor but provided that you have a fast swing speed, that should compensate for it with this racquet.

Hi Bayu, that's a bit tricky because the NF800 is far less head-heavy than the 88D pro, 99 pro and 100zz!!! But if I was going to choose, I'd go with the 88D pro - probably the 4U to make sure you still have a bit of speed!

3U or 4U is fairly subjective Jayden. We certainly don't think the 3U is heavy but both of us have only ever played with 3U rackets before. It'd be very different to your 88S regardless of whether you use the 3U or 4U. Are you sure you want to be switching to a head light racket in the first place?

Need Advice. So I'm a Intermediate level player with Agressive style of play. Played with Astrox 88D Game (BG66 Ultimax) for 6 months or so. It's a medium flex Taiwan made racket. I wanted to upgrade to Japan made racket and upon research found NF800 as an easy to play even balanced fast racket. I got it strung with Exbolt63 at 24LBS. Now my shots are not as powerful and consistent as they used to be with Astrox. So what could be the reason for this. 1. I have recently changed the racket, so I need to give some time for adjustment? 2. Choice of racket is not right because it's too Stiff for power generation? 3. Choice of string is not right? 4. Any other reason.

Thanks for the video. I am a high intermediate doubles and singles player. I broke my Astrox 77 (4u green). I liked it for singles but it was slightly slow for me when I played doubles. I also play with jetspeed s12 (3u first generation). I feel it is lacking in power for singles and sometimes in doubles. May be I need a racquet that is in between Jetspeed s12 (3u) and Astrox 77 (4u). I was considering between Tectonic 7, NF 800, NF 700, Astrox 100zz, Arcsaber 11 pro. What would you recommend? Also my smash is not strong, but I am working on it :)

Hi there Sirs, I'm an Intermediate player and own an Astrox 88D as my first Yonex racquet back in a few years. The smashing feels great on Astrox 88D, but sometimes it's very hard/uneasy for me to defend opponents' smashes by lifting and it takes a longer time to react. However, I'm getting into more control and speed like drive, lift, and easy maneuvering for net play. +Smash is a bonus too to have an element of surprise for my opponents to heighten pressure for them. I came across the Nanoflare series and having a hard time choosing between 700 and 800. Which should I get based on your advice? OR maybe into the Arcsaber series as well? Hey Danny, thanks for your questions. I'd be lying to you if I gave you an answer about the 4U being released in the UK haha. I'm not sure. We haven't officially tested the Astrox88S but when I've hit with it in the past (using aerobite strings), it's hard to compare because they're both very solid racquets but their specs are very different from one another and I didn't use the Astrox with the same strings. To be honest, I personally would prefer the 3U NF800 over the 4U NF800 but that's because I prefer a heavier racquet and feel that the 3U is light enough. I think the Astrox 88S is also a very good racquet and it'll come down to personal preference. If you don't really like the feel of head light racquet, I probably would stray away from the NF800. Are you not happy with the astrox 88S?

@@DaNzDeCo In my experience it does, it just depends on whether you enjoy that head-light feeling. A bit less power on the 4U so I would expect it to not provide as much power as the Astrox88S unless you have a lot of swing speed. If you're fine with a head-light racquet, I'd certainly consider it but maybe find a friend who has it or have a feel of it in store if possible before making the purchase. All the best!

Although, I do think NF800 would be great if you're a front court player. HI Bharath, the U doesn't shift the balance of the racket, just the overall weight. So if possible, just consider the overall weight and what suits your game style :)

The other thing to note is that 3U is heavier than 4U. But as I mentioned earlier, the weight distribution is unchanged, just the overall weight. Hope this helps!

​@@ysbharath You're correct that the 3U can generate more power. 3U generates more power because it's an overall heavier racquet, hence can generate more momentum when swinging. The 3U & 4U are both suitable for singles and doubles because the racquets technical abilities are the same, it's just the overall weight is difference. I suppose you could argue that the 4U might be more suitable for faster play (i.e. doubles) given that it's lighter and easier to swing. How you decide whether a 3U or 4U is right for you will depend on what you are like as a player though :)

I am a double player and comfortable playing both at front and rear. Of all aspects of myself, the weakest is smash defence. Because of that, i turned to 4U racket to get a fast swing while defending. If i get the Nanoflare 800 3U, does it reduces swing speed while defending? Hi Boy Boboy, good question. We think that the NF800 is quite fast and maneuverable even in 3U. So to have the best of both worlds, the 3U NF800 could be good choice for you. You can also practice hitting against the wall (with a heavy training racket too if you have one) to allow your defence swing speed to be faster too!

Before i buy a new one im using a karakal bn 60 FF with 24lbs with nano pro 66 string i can say that im really comfortable with it and been using this racket for 2 years i think. Last week i bought a new racket which is a apacs feather xs which is a 58g hh racket with string bg 80 26lbs. The string feels dull also the racket is much shorter than my old racket also i cant seem to hit the sweetspot.

Hi Yusney, Thanks for trusting in us with your question, which unfortunately is a bit of a challenge to answer! There's a few aspects to consider with your new racquet in getting used to it. I guess my first question would be, what's the reason for using such lightweight racquets? 60gm frames are not something that I've personally used before so it's hard for me to get an appreciation for that weight range when it comes to racquets, as I've always used racquets >85gm. I'll forget the weight of the racquet as they're both very similar. For me, I think you need to reduce the variables you have at the moment as you're making it harder for yourself to get used to. So here's what I'd suggest: 1. If they have different racquet lengths and you're finding it difficult to get used to. I suggest you find a hitting partner and spend some time hitting the most basic shots (Clears, lifts, drives, drops) 2. Reduce your variables, re-string your racquet with the same string and tension as your previous racquet. Right now you've added more things to complicate the situation. 3. Stop playing with your Karakal bn 60 FF if you're trying to get used to this racquet. Switching back and forth will complicate things 4. If you're doing the above and you've been doing it for a while, then I think it might be worth considering getting a racquet more similar to your old racquet Hope this helps!

Im playing this weekend so im going to follow your advice and ill decide whether im going back to my old racket or not. if im going back to my old racket i think i will sell my racket to my friend he really like my apacs racket.

@@Volantbadminton just to update i followed ur instructions i can say its effective thank you very much. Backstory i bought the racket and was strung last jan 5 and it arrived at my country at jan 8 then played with it last jan 18 for 4hrs the string was moving a lot and it was also hard like hitting the shuttle with wood plank, i notice now that the string weren't moving now and at settled state . i suspect that the string felt horrible when it was freshly strung so i need 2 weeks so the string to felt good and i can hear the crispness when im hitting and not as hard when it was fresh.

Volant Wear although he lost the match, I think his change from the duora 8xp to the 800 is something that I wanted to know for singles. I honestly think that it did pretty well for him in the game. At this point I might also get this racket due to being tired from head heavy rackets like the Astrox 77 😂.

It' really depends on what you want it for! If you're more of an attacking player from the rear court, you're likely to get more power from the Astrox 77. If you'd prefer a lighter racket, you'll probably like the NF800 more!

Hypothetically speaking, If I have the NF 800 should I buy astrox 88d pro granted that I can play singles and doubles quite well? Since you guys give it 9/10 in power with the same rating as Astrox 88d pro, do they differ or has the slight tad of similarity? Great review btw :D !

Hey jhudiel, thanks for your message. While they are similar in ratings, they do feel a bit different. If you're looking for something that's head heavier but still isn't too stiff, the 88d pro (4u) could be a good choice. We like both the NF800 and the 88D pro - so perhaps you'll be similar? :)

Hi Adam, great question. Strings are always a challenging question to answer because selecting them for yourself is more of an art than a science. For example, Jeff and I would string the NF800 with difference strings. He has a preference for Yonex NGY 98 where as I prefer Yonex NGY 99. He would typically string at 30lbs and I would string at 28lbs. In all our racquet reviews, we've kept this consistent to remove any bias that we have. At the end of the day, it's about trying different strings and tensions and deciding what you prefer.
