The hero of this issue, Fridtjof Nansen, is an outstanding Norwegian scientist, polar explorer, diplomat, "the last great humanist". One of the most iconic documents of the 20th century, the Nansen Passport, was named after him. In 2022, 100 years have passed since the entry into force of this document and the legal registration of the concept of "refugee". Therefore, at the end of the endless 2022, we decided to talk about the events of a hundred years ago, which seem closer than ever today; about how Fridtjof Nansen influenced the history of Russia, and why, despite the huge scientific achievements, he received the Nobel Prize not at all for them.
