"Nanshe" by Nishane - A Review !

What a beautiful description of one of my favourite fragrances. Many fragrances turn to powdery mush on my skin, but the citrus and fruits balance it out and hold it together for me, and it works wonderfully on my skin. This one really is as “me in a bottle” as it gets. Ylang, spices, brightness, earthiness and powder! I have epic Woman but never thought of the two as similar, so interesting that you did! Epic W always felt like the big sister to YSL Elle (one of my signature scents from my early 20’s) and I still wear her to this day. Listening to you talk about the carrot seed and Orris in Nanshe brings me again to recommend Violet Ida from Miller Harris. I wonder if it’s still around anywhere to buy. It’s a glorious earthy-orrisy amber fragrance. Thank you for highlighting this gem. 💕

I have Nanshe more than a year. I agree with you that is a unique, powdery & beautiful long lasting fragrance. All of the Cecile Zarokian fragrances have some similarities (I am her fan too) but I don't think that Nanshe and Epic are close, for me they have totally different vibe. As for Nanshe, it was a love at first sniff, I spayed on my shirt and it was summer, the smell was so addicting! Something strange happened: I wore it at a concert and I got some musty smell and I thought: oh no it's me! On my skin on cold weather it smells musty, but in summer (light sprayed) smells addicting, bordering powdery with balsamic. Isn't it strange how the same perfume can act differently on various temperatures?! 🤔 Anyhow, it's underrated fragrance💖

@@ChickVeronique no I didn’t say they were very close or exact …. But I definitely pick up these bits and pieces in the DNAs that (at times) are reminding me of the other :) I agree the vibe is different. It’s interesting how the season affects the smell or the fragrance experience. For me, I’m loving both a lot and Nanshe is definitely underrated 💕

I really enjoy your reviews 😊 I was influenced by you and blindly bought it! I would say you're right it is very unique To my nose is very luxurious soap, powdery and fresh. I like it but the first few minutes of the opening I don’t really like there is this strange scent that’s not familiar and I know isn’t cardamom since I am very familiar with that scent I brew my tea with cardamon on a daily basis also have many cardamom heavy fragrances This one for sure would be the one I would wear for the gym since it gives me this fresh out-of-shower vibe! But it isn’t a profile that makes me cozy or use for sleep. Specifically I find it very cold for this time of year. I am sure I will appreciate way more in hotter seasons I do agree with you longevity is enormous I could smell it after shower!

I would feel terrible if you hated it and I don't mean to influence anyone to blind buy but I am a big blind buyer; its in my nature and sometimes it backfires because its all so subjective. I feel like the "weird" note is the yuzu for me. I love cardamom. Having said that, I love this so much that I took advantage of a great deal on the 3.4 oz. Its not every day that I find a scent I like, that feels rich and substantial.... AND has the lasting power. I enjoy this one and I hope you do as well. :)
