Do you have any idea of the cognitive complexities required to handwrite? A printer just takes digital data and corresponds that to blotches of ink on a page. The programming and hardware needed to recognize words and translate those words into tactile movements of an artificial hand working with an artificial sensory system is extraordinarily complex. There is nothing dumb about it. It is a milestone in humanizing robotics.

There are things he cant do (well can by now but slower) that you did when your 3. But he can also already do things that you could never do in your entire lifetime... People see these new robots coming up; thinking they are toys. People all over the world have been working in different areas of robotics. It will all eventually be brought together. (already is). The first autonomous (full size) humanoids will be coming out in 2015-2020 for rescue operations. Tech has been bounding every yr.

Hi, I am very interested in buying the NAO. But I heard they were planning on upgrading NAO's internal atom processor, to hopefully something dual core! Do you think an upgraded processor would lead to a significantly better experience? It seems like NAO is very slow.

The servo motors in Nao is what makes him move. So to make him move faster, they need to give him faster servos. But, if you mean faster in processing terms, then yes, he will be faster.
