Terrie Severson, I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts and words. You spoke truthfully and admirably. When hearing Naomi's husband Larry retelling a story / email about a stranger on a plane ride with Naomi and how she enriched his life for meeting her, it made me briefly pause, because I had this feeling in my gut that those two strangers's meeting was not a coincidence. How odd that she took her life the next day knowing full well that she would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame the following day, would of wanted to kill herself,unless she was listening to the demons within her head. I do not think that kind and eloquent gentleman who sat and conversed with Naomi, was perhaps, not truly of this world. I know that is a stretch in logical thinking, but who knows the full dialog between this stranger and Naomi. Perhaps because she wrestled the demons she thought were haunting her, God sent an angel to try and talk her out of what was in her mind to do. She must of thought hard and for some time to plan this demise. Who knows except her and her maker what those thoughts were, but as I listened to Larry telling of this email of a gentleman passenger who just happen to sit by her, and just happened to recieve a business card from her to give to Larry is not in my opinion, coincidence. I think he was an angel in disguise to talk with Naomi and try to talk her out of what surely she planned at some point to do to end the demons persecuting her mind and body. This gentleman wanted to let Larry know personally, of how he was loved by Naomi and how she touched his life as well. I am hopeful that this "angel" walked her home at the time of her passing. Rest with the Angel's Naomi.

So many times they've saved my life. My Angel mama has visited me too. I've been physically touched by my mama and other Angel's quite often. I've read that a coincidence was God's way of creating a miracle. Angel's walk among us every day. At times they'll do anything to get our attention. However managing those 3 women’s huge personalities and so much conflict (at least from my perspective) was no small task. He really is a gem and I enjoyed hearing him share this email. Naomi and her daughter Wynonna, had a huge impact on mine and my mother's love of music. When the song, "Love Can Build A Bridge," was the first country song I taught my 3 year old Niece Lydia. When hearing of this loss, my heart hurt for her and her family. What could I do, some stranger the family had never met yet had a huge influence on my life? I did what any other Judd loving individual would do, had a sing along party with my mom and daughter, three generations being touched by the duo that knew how to share their love to everyone through their music. Ashley's interview hit me right in the gut as she struggled to let the world know just a very small amount of what her poor mother went through. As someone who's struggled with severe depression most of my life I was sobbing as I listened to Ashley tell her mom's story. For those of you who have loved ones and have suffered the way Naomi did and you don't understand why your loved one just can't "snap out of it and just let it go" then watch Ashley's story with Diane Sawyer then you just might get an inkling of the kind of very sad life that Naomi had and how she could not help herself as hard as she tried. I suffer with mental illnesses. I saw the DS interview with Ashley & it struck a chord with me as well. Hearing what she said, I could only cry. I cried for Ashley, Wynonna, Larry & the rest of the Judd Family. I cried for the many, many, many victims that these illnesses created. I cried for the people that suffer in silence, afraid of the stigmas society has created. I cried for those that suffer out loud & with help, because even then, we can still become victims that did not make it through. Just like poor Diana Ellen 'Naomi' Judd & the like that die everyday with treatment-resistant depression. Finally, I cried for myself. Knowing what I am capable of & what I am not. I receive treatment for my Mental Illnesses. But still, I feel that blackness inside of me. Sometimes, it takes over & I feel a great loss of myself, my soul, & everything else that makes me... me. For anyone that reads this- even if you think it's not worth it, please look into getting yourself help. It may just be the best thing that you can do for you & your family.

There are people who suffer from depression who do not respond to traditional treatment. They become frustrated about treatment because of their experiences. However, there are new treatments - not antidepressants - that might help. Be assertive with your provider and let them know you want results. Depression can lead to suicide. Take it seriously.

I lost my husband to suicide in 1995. It was a gunshot wound to the head. I had 3 young children and had to move forward. I had no idea what to do so I took 1 day at a time. We had more bad days than good. It was so frightening. But we’re still here and our family is still intact and in a good place finally. I am truly sorry for your loss. Jane thank you for sharing this. I too suffer from profound depression ! It's a real struggle everyday ! Nobody wants to wake up and say geez I feel like I want to be sad. Just the opposite. The worst part for me is I know how lucky I am to be here, and I have a great family. And all I really want is to be present in their lives. Material things are so unimportant to me. I just want to be able to function normally. I've tried many different medications therapy you name it. When I'm having a decent day I feel blessed. I know everyone goes through bouts of sadness, but when it's almost every single day it takes such a toll on us....but, in spite of the heartache depression brings I'll always be so thankful that God is with us always.....God bless Naomi and her beautiful family. This tragic end to such a beautiful woman hit a chord straight to my heart. About 10 years ago I struggles with suicidal thoughts and even planned it out but did not follow thru. When suicidal thoughts enter a person's mind they drown out every other thought of life, no matter how bad or how beautiful the person's life truly is. The pain and feeling like your at the bottom of the ocean struggling to make to the surface for air but it gets further and further away it seems. So I understand a bit about Naomi's fragile mind. And to the family she left behind I'm so sorry she couldn't hang on. I do not believe that suicide is selfish like a lot of people believe. I believe that people who have struggled with the thoughts and followed thru with the event are in such deep, debilitating pain that they just want it to stop. You can't escape your mind. And it's very, very hard to fight the enemy when the enemy is you. Naomi was beautiful. The Judd's were a part of my music I grew up with. They are part of my respect and admiration for country music. And I have loved watching Ashley's movies. She is such a talented actress. My heart goes out to both of them. I haven’t been able to shake this from my consciousness since first hearing of it. What a beautiful soul this woman blessed our world with. She brought flair, sass, and a certain kind of charm…that has been so impactful, it will stand the test of time. I’ve been battling depression since I can remember, and Naomi’s passing seems to me like a nudge to get the help I need, whenever I’m in distress. I know now, that suffering in silence only helps to exacerbate the problem. It allows the disease to grow, and take a stronger hold on our already weary spirits. I have been so upset about the death of the immensely beautiful, talented, wonderful and precious Naomi Judd. She courageously fought hard against the depths of hell that depression and it's horrible sidekick, anxiety, causes to the most vulnerable! I was so happy that she wrote her book about it and I really believed she had conquered the black hole! She helped so many people with her beautiful songs and her very presence! She was interested, from a medical perspective about her mental illness, researched it, talked to doctors and tried her best to take the proper action to overcome it. She fought hard for the sake of her family and wanted to be able to help others. I have no doubt she did help others through her honesty and determination. I wish she could have received the help she needed. I have thought about this so much - which mystifies me since I had never listened to their music and had not known anything about them. Strange how we are drawn to certain people and their stories.

Heart hurts that she was suffering, and that she have ended it so it wasn't going to burden no one else. But she was no burden to no one, but in her mind she thought it was to those she loved. I know because, I also had a friend that thought about being a burden to family and friends. She finally passed away in hospital on March 29,22. So my dearest friends I mean that to 💜💜💜 I also lost my mother in January 23,21 so I know the feeling. My sister also found her that she had passed.

From people great and small, from all around the world, comments about the love and the loss of Naomi Judd is well deserved. I am a fellow Kentuckian. Naomi and I have several things in common. One has been mentioned. I graduated from Morehead State University with a masters degree in education with a minor in vocal performance. But the one experience that we have that I especially share with Naomi is that I also suffer from a mental illness known as Uni-polar disorder. My love for Naomi stems from the fact she was an honest mouthpiece for all who suffer with mental health issues. It's hard for people to understand if one doesn't have an oozing ailment or flesh eating bacteria...for many people seeing is believing. Naomi used her popularity and intellect in spreading the reality and the truth concerning this subject. With a lifetime of personal, physical, and emotional struggles Naomi never lost her purpose in life. She lost her life to a disease, but she never lost her purpose in life. You are sorely missed Naomi Judd. Rest in Power.

While I am not a religious person, I have no doubt that the stranger who sat next to Naomi on the plane was there to support her while she traveled home on her own the day before she passed. And so badly wanted to go to the reunion concert but I was pregnant and on bed rest. She will forever be in our hearts and our prayers goes out to the family. I watched her slip money to our waittress at The Cheesecake Factory who was a single grandma raising her daughter's kids or greeting our military vets in airports when they had no idea who they were speaking to as she'd talk to them about PTSD. This video broke and healed my heart. Thank you SO MUCH for releasing the news of her loss as being a result of mental illness. That needs to start being how we ALL say it. My deepest condolence to you Larry, Wynonna and Ashley. I can truly say I have been a fan since day one hearing Wynonna and Naomi singing Mama he’s crazy. I was hooked. I think I have watched everything on them both. Naomi put the word out about depression and I was thankful she did. It goes to show someone so loving friendly and beautiful can suffer horrible depression too. I know the Lord will take care of her family and see them through this horrible sad time. Larry it was never a doubt that you two were soul mates and you took care of each other the best you could. She loved her two daughters so much and so proud of them. I have the family in my prayers. By heart goes out to Larry, Wynona and Ashley. Suicide within the family is a pain that is indescribable. I lost my brother to suicide in 2009 and it has been a difficult road to say the least. I truly admire Naomi for her honesty about mental health and her willingness to make it public and the need to talk about it and get the necessary help. My brother refused. He was in denial. Drugs were also a part of his life. My brother always seemed happy anytime he was around. We had no idea at the time he was suffering so much :( if only we could go back in time and help him. I know your road is going to be long and challenging but please take all the time you need and stick together with Larry and help each other thru this challenging time. We don’t have all the answers here on earth but God will help us thru our most difficult times. All we have to do is ask and not lean on our understanding but in all things trust in our Lord.

I would just ask you NOT go into further details of Naomi's death. We know more than what the public needs to know. It's private and I'm so sorry Ashley had to share what she did so soon afterwards just to ward off the media's lust for gossip. I feel so very blessed to have shared time and space along with photos with her. She graced me with her book "The River" while at the NAMI Vision of Hope Award Gala. Accepting her award was a small tribute to her because he love for others came first. As I embrace life I dedicate space in her memory to always take time for others. To Larry, Ashley and Wynonna,, please know that you are in my prayers...that God's grace bring you comfort. My husband committed suicide 9 years ago after being disabled by depression for 17 years. It was a horrific shock...totally unexpected. My faith in God kept me sane. As I said in my eulogy, that one dark moment does not define who he was...he was a kind, hard-working, humble and brilliant man loved by many. Know that 'The Judds' brought much joy to us; oh, how we tried to emulate the beautiful Naomi and Wynonna songs. The news of Naomi’s passing was beyond heartbreaking! Words are never adequate or sufficient for a time like this. We have been big fans of Naomi and Wynonna ever since they’re debut of Love can Build a Bridge song hit the charts. In fact, both my girls learned and sang that song in perfect harmony for their dad the day he was released after many years of incarceration!! I'm still having a hard time accepting that she is gone, she was such a beautiful human being. I have a copy of her cookbook Naomi's Home Companion from 1997 that she personally autographed at a book signing. It's a very good cookbook with personal stories and it is truly a treasure!❤💔❤

If she could only have felt 1/5th of the joy she bought just me, let alone millions of others, her heart was so big, so loving. I lost my son to suicide and the pain and anguish is unbearable. One day sitting in my front porch, my aunt , who also lost a son to suicide, says. “you know Beverly, sometimes this world is just too hard for some of us. I hope they are resting in peace.” Maybe that’s the case with Naomi, to her, this world was just too hard for her. No shame no blame just is.
