Panic Attacks are a nightmare. When your in one, it is so shocking, so many HORRIBLE things converging at the same time that you begin to think it will kill you. Just a nightmare. They seemingly come out of no-where , but of coarse the is always an origin, a trigger.

I to suffer with panic attacks. And they are a total nightmare. Been having lots of them the past few weeks. I feel like I’m losing my mind. I wouldn’t wish panic attacks on anyone. God bless you all who suffer with this. Hugs

The first panic attack I ever had was in a hospital following surgery. I was given a dose of Demerol and as I began to relax and feel a little high, suddenly this huge feeling arose in my chest and I jerked awake and yelled for the nurse and told her I was dying! She was calm, took my pulse, blood pressure and said gently that everything checked out ok. That was in September of 1963. Ever since then until 2009, I experienced them frequently. Since then they’ve stopped and I’ve had only 2. They are frightening.

My question is why Nurses and Medic are rude and telling me to just stop acting my panic attacks and i was coughing so much that i was starting to Sweat and couldnt breath and finally doctor decided to put oxygen on me and i was given valium and i was also prescribe a steriod for my neck and shoulder pain due to car accident... but and ive been on it for 3 days now and feeling sick and feeling some leg cramps and Why am i getting this feeling ???

You're not alone, I also suffer from anxiety, panic attacks for 3 months now, and when I hear the words "calm down, stop over reacting, stop thinking" it just makes it 10 times worse.

EMDR AND DBT do work for discrete traumas but as Wynona's suicide shows they do not necessarily cure diffuse generalized depression especially long term depression which she had. Shock treatments are sometimes given for severe unremitting depression and they sometimes work for that, but no one treatment modality is successful in 100% of cases and never will be necaise of the multiple CAUSES of the symptoms....Sybil Francis PhD clinical psychologist and professor
