Agreed, the first two sets were the caliber of a Final of WTA Premier 5 event and GS F and SF! Third set was a bit less from both players. These commentators are among the Worst, especially the male [in every match]. Neither properly described, conveyed, assess, evaluate, or analyzed/analysed the play, execution, manner, issues, level, strategy, or performance of either player. They clearly were promoting each as Top WTA Tour players with a bias toward one; Karolina Pliskova. She remains number 2-4, winning tournaments, mostly of this level, occasionally getting to final of a Premier 5 event, less often winning it, and best GS results are SF, though one per year (US Open Final 2016; best). Naomi Osaka has won less tournaments, but has better performances at GS, won two, in succession, one Premier 5 (her first tournament trophy; 2018), is much younger, and has a much better, more varied game, set of tools, weapons, strategy, ability physically and mentally. Naomi's serve has as much power, level, speed as Karolina, with more variation and variances in placement, spin and speed. She actually had double the amount of aces to Karolina through the first two sets. (Yet the Male commentator stated at the end Karolina had 16; is it correct?! Naomi had at least 16 prior to tie break in 2nd set) There were So Many misrepresentations, misgivings and misinformation from the commentators, especially the male! Clearly Naomi dropped and fell in her mental and emotional mindset, attitude, view, perspective, and perception thus affecting her performance, just as her coach said to Naomi after losing the second set tie break (which he said she carried that mentality and emotion from after the disappointment of losing her serve in 2nd set @ 6-5, after having match points). She did not recover to her previous mental level with the necessary positive outlook, thus her level and mostly performance was more variable with more mistakes and less movement and energy resulting from this. In my view, this match was more within and dependent upon Naomi's ability and performance, not nearly as much from Karolina. Karolina did maintain her level to be competitive with Naomi, and many times managed to bring her serve back up again. Clearly Karolina was struggling at the end of set 2, seemed to be having some muscle issues on her right forearm and pectorals (using an ice bag), which she did not continue use after the break (between sets 2-3), though still showed signs of struggling in consistent performance with her serve and ground strokes. More often Naomi made execution mistakes when getting opportunities, while she was executing the proper strategy, tactics and shot selection. Then she continued and fueled her more negative mental and emotional mindset, leading to more mistakes, though lifted a bit and nearly got out of it near the end; her body posture, movement, facial expressions were communicating and transmitting her thoughts. Sincerely, Note to WTA [ATP], viewers, fans, followers, etc.: As for commentators, there needs to be at least one of two [better both] or two of three who are former tour level players or coaches, who properly assess, evaluate, analyze/analyse, describe, portray the details of a match [similar to those in previous decades of 1970, 80, 90, sometimes in this Millennium with those previous greats]. Now and then We have heard from such, but not regularly and only some channels covering the GS tournaments. There are a few other past tour players who have these good qualities and means of expression, clarity, assessment, analysis, evaluation, description and portrayal. Many of the commentators seem, appear, convey and portray to be selected, chosen and hired for their ability, skills and expressions of and using exaggeration and promotion [often toward particular players and for particular reasons]. This seems evident of these two commentators.

Something's wrong with Osaka's strokes. She can't seem to clear the high part of the net and keep the ball inside the court consistently enough. Coach, take a closer look at her strokes, please. In other words, either back to the drawing board, or her name is Naomi Netter Osaka. But, obviously, you don't think so. 'Cause if you do she wouldn't be netting in so many matches, would she? Yes, it shows. Say what, coach? There's nothing wrong with her strokes. It's becsuse her practice net is set at one inch lo..? What? Why?? You want to focus first on building up her calm and cool demeanor. I see. But, does she know about the net height, though? No? Oh, you forgot to tell her...every time??

Osaka is playing better, but still has the mental toughness of a wet ramen noodle.
@deusexmachina97764 жыл бұрын
Actually she is playing worse, the technical aspects have gone down as most of her matches are 3 setters at ought to have been won in 2. I believe her mental toughness has gotten better because she was scrapping through to win the third set of her matches. But I guess the difference between here and other matches is she could have ended it at 2, plus Pliskova wasnt going anywhere. In her other matches her opponents were struggling themselves and gave Osaka plenty of chances to get back into the match. Even last year when she was on the winning streak she was still.playing sloppy which is why I was surprised her streak lasted so long. If you look at the scores of her matches they were narrow wins
