Watching this made me really like Naoyuki well before 20 minutes were up. He's pretty smooth. Gets leaves in reasonable manner, has accurate shots. I didn't know his name before - knowing very few (Efren, Nick Varner, some other American - Mike Siegel).

Efren's failed safety in rack 17 on the one ball was the key to this match. Look at his body language when he missed. He knew it ... the game was over. He vacillated on shooting it right or left handed as well. I personally think he should have banked the one two rails behind the deuce and left the cue behind the eight-ball ... but I was not there. Regardless, he will always be my #goat.

I don't understand what happened after the break of the very first game. Breaker sinks nothing, Opponent passes? and breaker fouls with no ball in hand penalty? Finally opponent goes for the proper ball, and scratched

Well, that was weird. I hadn't seen Efren do that before. I think I was referring to the rack where Efren did not put the one in the corner pocket. It seemed like the shot to make, but perhaps he was positioning for the two that made him shoot that way.

It looks like to me that they might be using the Cyclop tv ball set. The colors are poor choices. Don’t make any sense ( stupid). Wonder where they found those balls? Diamond pool tables in US was involved in the production and distribution of those ( Cyclop ) ball sets. They did not go over well, and soon Diamond could not even give them away as the set of balls that went the sale of their New tables. The colors are hard to describe in English to English,so I won’t try. Diamond tried using them in their own tournaments for one or two years, but have since quit. I know a man that has set that came with his home Diamond table and no one will play with them. He has since bought a new set of Aramith balls of the same colors has been used for hundreds of years.

I'm a little confused here. Efren Reyes won the lag, broke and didn't make a ball. Doesn't the opponent is the one who has to do a push out, not Efren Reyes, because it's the ponent's turn to shoot. I understand, but I'm not sure, only in playing ten ball is that Efren would be obligated to do a push out, but not in nine ball.
