A passerby noticed the alligator was stuck and in distress. It took the help of one of the department's fire trucks to remove the alligator safely.

@estry-gz2gv The "opening" is the same size as the rest of the culvert. It would make no sense to have a "lip" or flange that could potentially cause it to catch debris and become clogged. Also he couldn't catch enough small animals to survive if he were stuck in there as you surmise.✌️🫡

My sister and her husband used to live in a row of houses just like this in Cape Coral, Florida. There was a canal across the street from them that was teaming with alligators, so we frequently saw them wandering around the roads and the lawns. We were extremely careful when going out of doors, or leaving her house at night. One of the houses I lived in in Deerfield Beach, Florida backed up onto a freshwater canal, which had a resident 12-foot-long alligator. I didn't spend much time in the backyard…😂

If trappers are called to remove an alligator, there is a very high likelihood that alligator will be killed and processed. We have lots of swamp puppies in Florida. It’s best to leave them alone. Under no circumstances should you try and feed them. That’s when they become aggressive and start eating small pets and anything else available in their territory. There was an elderly lady who was just killed by an alligator in Florida a couple of month ago. Someone was feeding it. The lady went to walk her dog like she did everyday. But on this day the alligator grabbed her dog. She tried to fright to get her dog back but unfortunately the alligator killed her and was in the process of consuming her before trappers were able to catch and eliminate the gator. They are living dinosaurs. They do not need any help from us to survive. They have been doing it for millions and millions of years.

I've been several times in Florida. In the evening you often can see alligators lying on the streets outside the villages, warming themselves on the still hot asphalt. In the Everglades there are hundreds of homes directly at the water. There are thousands of alligators and huge pythons (up to almost 8 meters long) that are watching for little children, dogs, cats, chicken etc. for lunch. There you never can let your kids or your pets outside the house without carefully watching the environment next to the house. Many villages that are more in the center of the State do have rivers or channels that are connected with the Everglades or the sea. They also have a lot of artificial lakes in the villages or at golfing areas. In these lakes you regularly find huge alligators. It's the same with the artificial channels. There are big alligators, too. They wait for kitchen (food) waste, that many people throw into these channels behind their backdoor. These alligators are a danger for little children and pets, too. Not to forget another big danger in Florida, the "Florida Snowbirds": Many thousands of retired (partly retarded, too) people coming from the "cold States" during the winter time to Florida with its mild and warm climate to stay for the cold months there. Many of them are driving cars without still being able to. The result is a huge number of car accidents, many of them end with heavy injured or even killed people.

I can’t say for sure but he was probably stuck in there, there’s probably a canal on the other end. Awareness is important, but the likelihood of seeing one like this is slim. It’s when you are walking near a lake or pond that you need to be careful, especially if you’re walking a dog or with a small child. There have been and will continue to be accidents though, there are many cases of people and animals being attacked, but that’s over years. I’m middle aged and a Florida native, I have swam in ponds, rivers, lakes, back bays, the gulf and ditches. 😂 Between myself, two sisters and nine cousins none of us were ever hurt. Of course, a bunch of out of control Gen xers tromping around was enough to scare any animal or unsuspecting people out of the area! But that’s beside the point. 😂 They aren’t evil or bad, they are just animals and a part of the ecosystem here. I wouldn’t swim in any of the aforementioned waters by myself though, and definitely not at dawn or dusk. I’m a native not an idiot. 😂

Also snakes and ants. Went to Disney one year with family. I had gotten eat up with ants. Was under a doctor’s care for 6 months. Kept an epi pen with me at all times. I had hives inside and out from all the poison. It was the worst vacation my family ever had. Car had a flat on the way to Florida. Came back early due to my condition (ant bites). I had visited doctor before leaving Florida. Car broke down on way home and managed to spend night in nearby Days Inn while car was being repaired. Got home on Saturday and was in hospital by Sunday morning. Hives had gotten worse and I had a hard time breathing. I got a shot and hospital made me an appointment with a specialists for next day. The doctor said I was worst case he had ever seen. On a scale from 1-10, he said I was a 9.9. I got another shot and had to stay in one of the quiet rooms on a bed until doctor felt I wouldn’t have a reaction to medicine. The doctor told me the ant poison would always stay inside of me and something else could trigger me to have that same reaction in the future due to the poison from ants.
