I want to see state of the art modern reenactments of the battles at the correct scale, especially Austerlitz, Jena and Waterloo. I don't think we have ever seen that actually in Cinema since to do it budget is always a problem. This is not a unanimous view held by historians and many have crticised it. I'm not saying it's false or true but don't present the statement of a single expert as fact when there is no consensus. Many British historians have also compared Napoleon to Hitler. What makes their word worth less?

I cannot agree, this is sheer propaganda, not mentioning that he created a police state, kidnapped and executed his enemies, butchered POWS (of Jaffa fame) expanded French borders like a cancer, look at the map of 1812, re winding the gains of the Revolution, re introducing slavery and so on.

@@jessiemeisenheimer8675The comparisons between the two leaders is in my opinion an unfair one, and in recent years more historians have come around to acknowledging Napoleon’s positive impacts that he has made on both Europe and the rest of the world. In my opinion, yes, Napoleon did more good than harm. He is known to this day as ‘The Father of Modern Europe’. Also, in terms of being a dictator, Napoleon was weird. Napoleon: (reforms currency, improves education and infrastructure, introduces central banking, reduces corruption, creates a civil code) Me: “Wait, that’s not what dictators are supposed to do.” Napoleon: (takes away women’s rights) Me: “Ah, that’s more like it.”

So excited to see the movie. It has been so long since we haven't had a movie on Nappleon ! Important correction tho, the Egyptian campaign was, at the end, a failure BUT it is because the odds were stacked against him and despite that he won some of his greatest victories in terms of casualty ratio with the enemy. He humiliated the Ottoman forces several times, winning crushing victories against numerically superior enemy, losing several times less troops and if I'm not mistaken at one battle he lost like 1 guy against thousands of Ottomans despite the odds.

Since Napoleon did not face British squares in battle (as far as I recall) until Waterloo, this film probably encompasses his whole career. But when I saw him firing the grapeshot into the Paris crowd I shouted "Yes!" to my computer. Too many films about the Emperor are little more than precursors to Waterloo, which is about like making a film about Lincoln that begins with his decision to attend a play at Ford's Theater

There's another good Ridley Scott film (1977) on the Napoleonic era called The Duellists, with Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel. It doesn't have a lot of huge battle scenes because Scott couldn't get the funding at the time to do epic war. Looks like he has the funding, now.
